Real musicians don't need "awards."

Some interesting news on Carol Kaye turning down the invite for the next R&R HOF awards.

Carol Kaye ’declining’ Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction

Good on Carol for keeping her integrity as a musician.

R&R HOF is a goofy production for "entertainers" especially the last few decades.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is just as valid as the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

(Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.)

@buellrider97  NASCAR lost me when they forced restrictor plates in an effort to make everyone equal.

The hall of fame is a cool place to visit but all HOFs have their own selection criteria and process which has limitations IMO.  Interesting that a couple of musicians that have been inducted refused to participate.  Mark Knofler of Dire Straits is another.  Some share their reasons why but he didn’t.  Reminds me of the Groucho Marx quote about not wanting to join a club that would have me as a member.

I do know that she thinks of herself more as a Jazz musician. So did her sometimes drumming partner in the L.A. studios, Earl Palmer.

Marketing tool to promote sales. Just like most speciality magazines and on-line reviewers.  Shiny and new turns old therefore reinvigorate sales through award shows and hall of fames.
