Room treatment

My listening room sounds overly dampened, and I want to look at options for making the sound brighter. The room is 4 meters by 7 meters by 2.75 meters. Two walls are mostly covered with bookcases, and two walls are partially covered by curtained windows. The floor has wall-to-wall carpet. What should I consider?

No way a room that size how you describe it is over damped. Maybe your listening spot is in a null?

The best thing you could do is to create a virtual system and post photos of your system and space.

This. Way easier than writing an essay and then answering a dozen questions to describe your system/room.

One and done.

I don't understand why so many don't.

jrdavisphd,
I see from another one of your posts that you may be in the greater Toronto area which is where I am too.  If you would like to discuss room treatments in general and possible options specific to your "overly dampened" room, then send me a message.  I regularly assist others via room measurements and decipher the results to provide suggestions for improvement both in the GTA area and remotely to other parts of the country.  Maybe you caught my speeches at the TO and Montreal audiofest or written articles over at PMA Magazine?
