@danmar123 How? You mounted the ALK externally?
Klipsch Mod
I've upgraded the crossovers and internal wiring, lined the cabinets with anti-vibration sheets, upgraded the speaker connectors and I'm about to solder the speaker connections. (Waiting for Crites titanium tweeter diaphragms to be back in stock). Im considering putting in a high frequency attenuator like you see in older speakers like altec lansing santanas, Sony HPM 100s, etc. What do you think?

What Klipsch speakers do you have? What did you do the crossovers? If you think the original tweeters are shrill, the TI tweeters will be worse. Yes, they will need a L-Pad. Forget about the Crites tweeters, get Dave's machined tweeter, these are a true upgrade, and we will work with you to build a L-Pad to fit your speakers and sound. As others have said, reinforcing the cabinet works really well, depending on what speakers, there are some very specific things to make them work better. It's amazing for how popular Klipsch speakers are, they are in fact built cheaply, and respond so well to some common fixes. Al the ALK CX guy retired several years ago, thus is no long making anything new. Crites does make a couple ALK type XO's, or you can build your own. |
