Bryston BDP-2

I've been making some changes lately. In an effort to get my source right, I debated between a PS Audio PWT and Bryston BDP-2. I decided to order a BDP-2. I received the digital player on Thursday. Unfortunately, the BDP-2 didn't work. I could hear something moving around inside and it wouldn't power on. Although I heard it in a store, I never had a chance to hear in my own system. For some reason, the BDP-2 is the only item I ever received and thought the look and feel didn't justify the cost. Before I decide to get a replacement, I have a couple of question for BDP-1 or BDP-2 owners. Has anyone compared either digital player to a Mac-mini? Is there a significant difference between the BDP-1 and BDP-2?

I sometimes say things that get me in trouble, and this is probably no exception. But, the DAC you're talking about here is $2300. Your IC's and speaker cables cost $4100. How did you justify the cost on your cables? For $6400 you could have gotten a DAC that is pretty close to state of the art.

Unless you are looking to get a divorce, I suggest you stop and rethink all this.
Zd542,

The BDP-2 isn't a DAC? My DAC is a PS Audio DirectStream. I didn't pay anywhere close to $4100 for my speaker cables and ICs!

I submit it's great that you're concerned about my marriage, but I post questions on Audiogon with the purpose of receiving opinions on equipment, not my marriage.
"The Bryston BDP-2 is a dedicated player for high resolution digital audio files."

The BDP-2 is not a DAC, it is a way to get digital media TO a DAC (i.e., you must still purchase a DAC).

If your purchase had parts rattling around inside, return it.
