Hum.....??

I finally got around to connecting a set of Kimber Hero's to the tt last night. I had neck surgery about 6 weeks ago and wasn't allowed to lift much of anything. These cables were a very tight fit on the SME arm. Anyway, now I have hum in both channels. I'm presuming the Hero's are not fully shielded and therefore not suitable for a phono ic.

Is this correct?

Aaaarrrggghhhh!

I'm going crazy here. I've tried everything. Reversing plugs, unplugging everything except the amp and the phono pre. No luck. I took the table apart, no problems there, wiring wise. I pulled the wand off, unmounted the arm, checked the wiring. Put everything back together, Now I have basically no right channel. Very distorted and no volume. Dam it!!! It was so close...... The vinyl was bettering CD on many occassions....... Guess I damaged one of those hair like wires in the base of the arm. So now, it's either try to find the problem and fix it, try to re-wire the base of the arm, get a different arm, or just bite the bullet and get a totally different table.

Not a happy camper........
"I replaced a cheap set of IC's with the Hero's. That's when the hum started. Too bad to. Besides the hum, it sounded better."

If the hum started when I put a set of cables into my system I would start be removing those cables.
