stillpoint question


can stillpoints be placed directly under thr tt or would it be better with a shelf betwwen them- thanks.

Stillpoints are generally used between the TT and the supporting shelf (rack). There is no benefit of adding a shelf between the TT and the stillpoints unless it is a reasonance control specific shelf like a symposium, in which you will need to experiment.
I have used them in this manner to offset the penalties of using a granite shelf. From top to bottom: 'table, aluminum plate shelf, stillpoints, granite.

They are tapped with 1/4-20 threads so it is easy to do. Be sure to get the inverse risers so things don't go skating away.

Though I'm not using them at present, they do work well with perhaps a bit of loss in bass slam.
I found them to work best on turntables when used with Mini Inverse Risers between the Stillpoint and table for security and Standard Risers at the base of the Stillpoint for sound.
