The absolute first song I really heard and remembered was the theme to Davey Crockett, which year...1954 or 55. I was either 4 or 5. 1st "rock" song: Blueberry Hill by Fats Domino, 1955 or 56. I was at a friends house and he had a much older brother who had this 45 record player playing this song over and over. Funny how you remember things. By the way I did have a Davey Crockett coonskin cap with tail.
Al Hibbler singing top hit of 1956 ... Unchained Melody. And it's still around! Still one of may all-time fav's. (Hope my memory is still intact to name the singer and title!)
Some Ventures song off the silver covered surfer album. I was three and called it the "Rub-A-Dub-Ba's" because that's what the guitar sounded like. My parents still have a film of me queueing that song up over-and-over. Yeh. I was into this hifi thing at three years old.
Sweet Georgia Brown by Django Reinhardt and the Quintet of the Hot Club of France with Stephon Grappelli. Dad was a big Reinhardt fan, being a guitar player himself.
