Help me improve Rega P2

Wondering about the most (cost) effective tweaks to improve my P2. Currently have a Goldring Elektra cartridge and feeds into a Creek OBH-8 phono stage and then into solid state preamp and amp. Speakers are Symphonic Line Legato. I would think that a new cartridge might provide biggest change but wonder what others would think. Considering the Rega Bias 2 or Elys 2 mostly for ease of installation and alignment as well as presumed synergy. Certainly I'm open to other suggestions. Other considerations would be a new sub-platter(the one from Argentina) or new mat. Should mention that I have the glass platter, white belt and thick felt mat. Don't really have a specific complaint about the current system except that I suspect it can sound better. Perhaps more full sound or better bass. Willing to spend up to $300 so not interested in suggestions to get a better TT.

I have always enjoyed the simplicity of British based systems...usually one source,integrated amp,2-way monitor speakers...I have a smiliar system with full range production...and yes, I can concur Brits like a "bit of the drop"

I'll let you all in on my secret since I won't be around too much longer.
Your ears are just a part of your body, if your entire body is relaxed, your brain has concluded this sound is good for
you, if tense vice-versa.
Ears ALONE will often lead you astray .

For anyone interested, I purchased the Shure M97xe. For $75 it seemed a reasonable experiment and so far I'm pleased. Smoother sound than the Elektra; perhaps a bit more bass and most noticeably, surface noise is less pronounced. I wasn't expecting that but a pleasant surprise that wife noticed before I did. I think a new phono stage or sub-platter will be the next step.

Shure m97xe is a great cart...Very nice relaxed presentation with dimensional bass...I have a vintage 97he (hyper elliptical) version as well...I wonder if the current 97 will take an after market HE stylus?...I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the Creek unit...highly praised... Glad u like your Shure...happy listening

I believe Wahwah is correct about the Ariston RD11s being a better turntable than the P2, and that's why the bass was better. That being said, you would have to do some research on where to get parts, as Ariston is not around.
