Is TACT RCS 2.0 truly transparent

What exactly does the TACT do with the digital signal? I assume, the signal gets 'modified' with the appropriate eq and phase correction, would that not mean the signal would inevitably be 'changed' and hence 'degraded'? How can they perform all those tasks while being 'transparent'?

Nothing is transparent, and the Sigtech units (at a much higher price) are considered better by most who have tried these digital units. With that said, I must say that I would rather have a TACT in my system, than not. Every time I have heard the improvements that these units are capable of, I am completely floored. In the end, when either a TACT or Sigtech units is utilized, I have had a much more enjoyable musical experience, which reminds me more of music, and less that I am listening to equipment. Isn't that what high end audio is all about? Now, can someone tell me where I can get one of these wonder units at a reasonable price?
Thanks. I do have a TACT and enjoyed it a LOT. I am asking because many 'audiophiles' I have talked to, rejected the idea of placing a device such as TACT in the signal path, claiming that it degrades the signal. But clearly, to my ears, they do more good then bad. That is why I want to know what exactly happens before and after the TACT. TACT claims there is NO distorion whatsoever in the DD version
At some level DSP does degrade the audio signal, but in well designed equipment the amount of degradation will be insignificant. BTW, TACT is not exactly telling the truth when they say there is NO distortion. The repeated division of a digital binary numbers will ultimately result in a product that exceeds the processors bandwith and some portion of the digital word will be discarded. This "rounding" error is a type of distortion.

As with any type of signal processing, you need to balance the benefits of the processor vs. the added complexity to your system.
Ehider. Call Jonathan Goldman Of Goldman Audio. I have purchased most of my system from him. You won't find a better dealer for price and service. He has the Tact line along with Perpetual Technologies. 1 888 419 3501.
