Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?

Just curious. People have asked about watches,
cigars, beer, and even ones income here.

1: What do you drive (daily & weekends)?
2: What might you be driving in the future?
3: What would you drive if $$$ was no object (pick 2 ;-)?

My answers to the above:
1: Toyota truck.
2: Newer Toyota truck.
3: Lamborghini Murcielago & McLaren F1.

Macdadtexas, I love modding Mustangs. I autocrossed my '88 5.0LX for almost 15 years in the SCCA's ESP class. It was fast and fun and, as you say, I could easily blow the doors off many (most) Porsches. The car was very reliable and had only the classic Mustang weaknesses, like a repeatedly replaced heater core and other minor things.

I've gone to the dark side now and just took delivery of a 2009 BMW M3 coupe. I think of it as the ultimate Mustang handling wise. I've ordered a 4.10 rear, throttle bodies, exhaust and a couple of other tweaks to install next month. I'll probably stay normally aspirated, but like you, I'd like to break that 4-second 0-60. (We're at 4.1 as delivered).

Over at the BMW forum several dumb asses were showing their ignorance about Mustangs. I told them, "Watch out and don't get caught in the wrong gear." ;-)

DCstep, great to hear that from you. I had nothing but hearache from my beautiful, but troublesome M3. Last Sunday afternoo, on the Hard Tollroad in Houston I had the pleasure of having a guy in about an '07 Porche 4s keep reving his engine and giving me the go signal before I said OK. The look on his face as I downshifted was priceless. I just wish it had lasted longer, but he was gone so quickly.......
Dcstep, I've owned a 2002 SMG BMW M3 imola red. Very Nice but it for 335I with 20" wheels and some BMW approved mods. It's real bad ass but looks low and slow. but, boy what's hiding under that hood!

yes they did do that. I live/work in Houston and Merill's energy trading shop (they bought it from Koch Industries in '04) is here, and I still have a lot of friends there, and yes they did by toys. Their building is 20 Greenway Plaza and right in front of it is one of the biggest Mercedes dealerships in the country (check it on on GoogleEarth), and they are not hurting thanks to the continued support of the Merrill-BOA traders.
