As technology advances at an ever quickening pace, any ideas on the new generation of simple plug and play breakout DAC's for 2013? I'm using a Mac mini as my server and my range is up to $1500, but from what I 've been reading there is a whole host of new and improved product out there. Any thoughts would be much welcomed. Thank you.
To add to Bill and Wtf's comments, the Chord QuteHD is excellent. For me, it is the first time that I can actually relax when listening to digital, not worrying about what is missing and/or bothering me about what should, after all, be a fulfilling experience.
In your price range you can pick up the Ayre QB9 and be set for the foreseeable future. Using mine with an Apple mini-Mac which replaced the Marantz SA-7s2 and I do not mis the Marantz which is saying a lot as it was an outstanding CD player.
