DIY Speaker wire

I have read multiple posts about using 10 awg solid core copper wire for speaker wire. Anybody use 10-3 romex? It has 3 shielded wires and one bare inside a plastic sheath. I am bi- ampping and am considering using this for each side instead of (4) single wires.

"The is cheap copper full of impurities.. cheap insulation tooo."

The same cheap wire that is used from your wall outlet to your electrical panel box, that many have their very expensive audio A/C cables connected to.

Just something to think about.

I say try it, you never know. I tried this a while back (12/2, not 12/3 though) and didn't make much difference with my Klipschorns that I had then. Some speakers are more cable sensitive than others.
I need to run 4 sets of speaker wire 24' over a stone floor. There is a fireplace between my speaker (best placement in my 1,100 sq' room) giving me that space behind the main sofa the best placement for my rack of gear. I have removed the passive crossover from an old pair of Speakercraft (4)ribbon/6.5" cone combos and are bi-amping with a pair of vintage McIntosh M60s and Audio Research Classic 120s (4 mono blocks.) I do have a Von Scheikert Tower sub as well. 100 feet of spendy cable could be a fortune. Ideas?
I have used connecting wire as speaker cable which was simgle stranded heavy guage copper that I used 3 to makes a braid. They worked really well,- impurities and all. I eventually only used them as jumpers, then they got replaced by expensive Cardas. Honestly I heard no meaningful differences.
Mechans is spot on. I love the sound of heavy gauge , solid core copper wire. If you have not tried, then don't knock it until you try. It has bested all of the highly reviewed and priced speaker cables I have owned over the years. Yes, the stuff you can buy at Home Depot!
Mechans, What gauge solids did you braid? Am I to assume you braided 3 each per binding post? Again I am running these 24'. and there will be a set each split at 1200 htz. What of single wire 10 awg?
