New SDS settings Stringreen,As explained where? The manual is completely silent on the voltage selection as the unit is supposed to be calibrated before shipping. C'mon man.
Audio Additives vs Acoustic Sounds Digital Scale Bill,I used a plastic library card that was a bit thinner than a credit card. I cut off the magnetic strip just in case, and needed to make it more narrow anyway. I then bent it so that the weighing step was at the record's level. I then used blu-...
recessed center in old turntables platters ... why As far as I know, all VPI tables have recessed platters. Which ones don't? There was a thread about a raised Classic platter a few months ago, but it turned out to be a machining error.
recessed center in old turntables platters ... why VPI tables do have recessed platters. I've owned a Scout and a Classic and both platters had recessed centers.
VPI SDS 45 RPM malfunction The unit appears to be broken, strangely for the 45 RPM function only. I tried to recalibrate it, and it was factory-set to 102V for 45, which should work fine. I increased the voltage to 115V to see if that would do the trick, and the result was ...
VPI SDS 45 RPM malfunction Rodman,Thank you. Is this calibration for 45 RPM only? 33 works fine at 72V and I'd like to keep it that way.
VPI SDS 45 RPM malfunction If I can re-set it myself, why would I send it back to VPI and wait for who knows how long to get it back, new unit or not? Btw, the calibration manual may as well have been written in Chinese. I can't possibly follow it, but at the same time it c...
VPI SDS 45 RPM malfunction If I remember correctly, the run voltage was higher for 45 RPM, but it would adjust itself automatically once you switch from 33 to 45. Also, I'm not quite sure how to adjust voltage since it comes pre-calibrated from the factory.
VPI SDS 45 RPM malfunction Thanks Brf. What's strange is that I had an SDS unit before, and it worked fine with that same turntable at both speeds. Never had a problem or had to adjust settings.
VPI SDS 45 RPM malfunction I just wanted to add that the belt does not slip at 33 RPM at all, and the platter holds the speed fine.
Spin Clean seems to add noise to records? Doug Deacon can explain it more eloquently, but the fact that you hear more clicks and pops is probably an indication that your Spin Clean does a good job cleaning the records. No RCM will clean away the mechanical damage to the grooves; clicks an...
New VPI 3D Arm Another happy VPI customer here and I'd like to extend my thanks to Mat publicly as he deserves. Mine was an issue with an SDS unit not a 3D arm, but I found all the VPI bashing in this thread quite upsetting so I decided to post here. I find it a...
Led Zep Reissue on vinyl Thanks Bill.
Led Zep Reissue on vinyl I apologize if the question is inane, but is LZ IV part of this reissue undertaking as well?
Is it possible for a record to be too loud? AtmasphereA moving coil phono section that overloads with 1mV from the cartridge is a phono section with poor overload characteristics, FWIW. Atmasphere,It surely cannot be true. Perhaps you or Al can elaborate, but overloading is a function of th... |
