Parasound vs Rotel Amps @caphill thanks for the detailed feedback. I just have the entry level ML Aeon. I’m thinking next year I’ll replace them with a pair of summit Xs. I was thinking to get the PrimaLuna Dialogue One just to power the electrostats. Since the dialogue ...
Parasound vs Rotel Amps Side tracking question, would a tube amp truly beat the Halo A51 for the Electrostats? I’ve heard great stories but am not ready to drop $3000 for minimum improvement. They sound pretty good as is now.
Parasound vs Rotel Amps @caphill thanks for the detailed feedback. I shall keep going with the Halo A51s then. Regarding the latest HT codes though, what other brands has the latest codes? I researched Anthem, Marantz and Denon. It’s true they are early adopters, but tho...
Amps and Preamps has standby, but should I turn them completely off? Got some good answers here. Thanks guys. Yeah, I agree it's all about the trade off. Since I almost exclusively using the units over the weekend, I believe you'll probably agree it's a good idea to turn them off over the 5 week days and turn them ...
Amps and Preamps has standby, but should I turn them completely off? sorry, I also have a Parasound new classic 5125 for the rear channels and my preamp is Rotel RSP 1572. The Rotel runs hot too.
Active analog splitter? Yes, sorry, I do mean bi-amping. My DIY customized front speakers have a 12" bass drive that has its own connector. I have some hearing loss for low frequencies and bi-amping has historically worked very well for me because I can simply increase t...
Zero autoformers -- how to measure impedance? I did another measurement with everything disconnected. The unit has already been on for a while. The measurement read -2.0mV on the front channels and -1.9 on the surround channels. So I take this is normal since the voltage is practically zero? ...
Zero autoformers -- how to measure impedance? Hi Al and BombaywallaThanks for the inputs. I am glad that the zeros didn't fry. My bad, the -22.6 is in mV as indicated on the multimeter. I have one pair of speakers connect to it but will measure again taking everything off. Thanks!
Zero autoformers -- how to measure impedance? Hi Al,I measured the DC output of the NAD T757 and found it to be -22.6. How can it be negative? Is that normal? Thanks,Ryan
Zero autoformers -- how to measure impedance? Thanks Al and Bombaywalla. I figured this is a separate topic so I started a new thread. I hope I didn't fry the zeros. I have an amp and a receiver. The zeros were originally connected to a NAD T757 V2 and this unit kept going into protection. Ye...
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system Hi Al,Sounds great. I really appreciate all the help this time (and last time too!). Now I feel much more comfortable ordering a pair of the 1.5 ohm resistors. Thanks again,Ryan Huang.
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system Hi Al, Thanks for all your inputs and help. The zeros are installed yesterday and they are great. To take care of the 8 ohm vs 4 ohm problem, I think I've found the ultimate solution. The 3 ohm resistor would reduce 50 watts of power (directly onl...
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system I see. Thanks. I think the increased damping factor as a result of the zeros could help. I'll add the resistor to see how it goes thanks!
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system I see, I wonder whether it can be wired backwards. I'll test them tomorrow when I get them thanks
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system Hi Al, Thanks for the response. Now I'm thinking, since the zero has several input wires, maybe I could use the 3X wire on the three 8 ohm drive and then connect the 4 ohm drive by itself on the 2x wire. That way all of them will practically be 8 ... |
