Please tutor me on some integrated amp basics.
Sorry Kosst, but I have heard both FET and Bipolar devices and they definitely have different sounds. The FET usually has a more warm/fuzzy texture, but they can be relatively clear in some cases. The bipolar are ultimately cleaner sounding and ha...
Please tutor me on some integrated amp basics.
Kosst thinks that his Pass Labs F5 amp is the greatest thing in the world. And for him, that may be true. He has also touted that his system with his Focal speakers can beat almost anything out there. That perception may have some truth in it, but...
Please tutor me on some integrated amp basics.
Sorry, but class A is most definitely the ideal form of audio amplification. I completely disagree.  As I have said before, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  A full "FET Class A" amp will sound different than a "Bipolar Class A" amp and wi...
Fuse upgrades? -- 6.3 amp 250v 5X20mm fast blow fuses
Couple of additional thoughts.  You may not hear a difference with fuses.  Your equipment/speakers may not be high enough resolution to hear the differences.  On very warm equipment, just putting in one Hi-Fi Tuning fuse may not may any significan...
DAC suggestion Please
Actually, thinking about it, whether or not you need a "volume" control, I would look at the Gustard DAC-X20 Pro with USB input at $869.  It does have a volume control so that you do not need a preamp in between.
Which integrated amp for better musicality - Parasound Hint vs Primaluna vs ???
Oh, somebody earlier recommended PSVANE tubes.  I will also second that recommendation if you want to upgrade your preamp tubes if you get a Primaluna (or similar).  I just helped a friend upgrade his JJ 12au7 tubes to PSVANE.  The JJ were okay, b...
Which integrated amp for better musicality - Parasound Hint vs Primaluna vs ???
Agreed. Your speakers are not that "inefficient". The Primaluna will start to saturate and fall down around 15-25 watts (depending on tube choice and mode). If you want to turn it up and "rock out' to loud and/or bass heavy music, be aware tha...
Which integrated amp for better musicality - Parasound Hint vs Primaluna vs ???
I have not heard the Naim. The McIntosh integrateds will have the typical "Mac" sound. The McIntosh will have slightly mild/laid-back midrange and midbass. The sound is excellent, don't get me wrong, but it is not a resolution monster like your An...
Which integrated amp for better musicality - Parasound Hint vs Primaluna vs ???
I had an opportunity to hear a couple systems with Primaluna.  For a tube integrated, I actually think they are pretty damn good sound quality.  Very good resolution for a tube amp, but I can definitely hear just a bit of the "tube amp sonic signa...
Purchase a receiver or what? need your advice.
The Marantz stuff has excellent design and build quality.  Very good power supplies and Marantz is the only receiver that has a fully discrete analog output stage.  The sound will be very strong and full.  However, the Marantz is voiced on the war...
Power help
Kost is also contradictory because he is stating "an ideal power supply", which doesn't exist even in the most expensive equipment.  The problem is that the audio electronics run half from the internal power supply and half from the incoming A/C c...
Help with DIY dedicated circuit
I also recommend an electrician.  One of the comments indicated to make sure both of the "HOT" wires to your two new outlets are on the same phase.   Your stove ran on "220/240 Volt" which means that, in the United States, the two "HOT" wires are ...
DAC suggestion Please
Do you need a DAC with a preamp/volume control?  If so, that does limit the choices.
Fidelity Audio -or- Oppomod ? Or ?
Didn't we just have a conversation/thread on this already?
Op amp Rolling?
I have tried so many different op amps.  The OPA627 is nice.  The larger format PDIP "BP" version are the best version.  The can "AM" versions are just too bright sounding.  They are very clean and fast (when using a proper power supply and oscill...
