What HT processor HDMI 2.1, and does that matter?
The certifications only say that the cable will support a certain level of data bandwidth.  This generally means that better wire is used or thicker gauge wire in some cases (or better design and better shielding for example).  However, it's a fun...
What HT processor HDMI 2.1, and does that matter?
Honestly, the only thing that I see of any value for HDMI 2.1 is the Dynamic HDR.  The Atmos over ARC might be useful for some people, but there isn't any content that supports HDMI 2.1 (which is basically 8k video).  My opinion is that it's so ea...
Older B&w 805 (N or S) vs new 705 S3
My following comments are purely a guess based on my experiences with B&W D2 and D3 speakers. The older 805S will likely be much more refined than S3 in a lot of ways.  However, a couple of things to keep in mind.  The older generations used th...
Pass labs x260.8 versus xa160.8
I have noticed that the XA amps (full Class A) have a thicker and softer sound that the "X" amps.  That's not to say that the X amps are thin (they are not thin sounding at all), but the XA does have a very slightly different sound.  XA being more...
Amp to Pair with Revel F228be
You've got three completely different amp sounds on your short list.  First, the Revel are very neutral and very high resolution speakers.  I really loved them when I heard them.  That being said:Pass Labs - has a slightly colored sound that gives...
Moving audio gear in sub zero temperatures
I would watch out for electronics that have a battery inside.  Most audio equipment would not have this, but something like a VCR that has a time-clock inside which needs to keep running even if the device is not plugged in.  The condensation coul...
Help! Can't Get Rid Of Buzz in system at Higher Volumes
@motoraway - he is actually using a Sutherland Insight phono stage which turns the audio signal into a normal level for the Marantz.I don't have direct experience with phono stages and buzz, but if it's a ground loop, this appears to be an alterna...
Dirac vs 8-band McIntosh EQ
Dirac is not just an extremely fine eq but it is a phase adjustment process.  It alters the phase/timing of certain frequencies on each speaker to make them time-correct at your listening position.  In my experience, it does funny things to the so...
Help Please With A Replacement For Old Aragon Amp.
The Aragon 8008BB is a very high current amp and it's actually biased pretty high into Class A (biased 26 watts).  It could very well be that the power conditioner is restricting current.  It shouldn't have any problem handling demanding speakers....
Help with upgrade from Marantz 6011
The RMB-1085 are Class D amps using switching power supplies.  I had a friend who owned one briefly and the sound was somewhat boring and lacked involvement.  Having 10 channels isn't really needed in your system.I think you'd be better off buying...
Help! Receiver or preamp? Im overwhelmed...
You can get a used Marantz AV7702 MkII unit for $1000-1300.  I would recommend them because they have excellent power supplies and are the only processor at this price level that have fully discrete analog output stages.  That being said, they do ...
Help! Receiver or preamp? Im overwhelmed...
What's your budget?   This will probably dictate what we recommend.  Such as under $1000.  $1000-3000.  $4,000 or more. lol.
Bulk power cables suggestions
I am going to have to disagree on the Wattgate recommendation. If you are at an absolute low budget, the Wattgate are decent for the money as long as you get the "Classic" series. DO NOT get the EVO series because they use hex-head screws for the ...
Auralic Aries G2.1 or Innuos Zenith mk3
I was able to hear an Innous Statement being used strictly as a network streamer (i.e. NOT connected directly to a DAC).  This was compared directly to a Antipodes network streamer using the same exact song and content.  There was a DLNA player th...
Craigslist Fraud
Like other has suggested, CL should only be cash at pickup for any sales.  I have also seen buyers offering more than asking price and then requesting you use a third party transaction website for the money transfer.  The idea is that the charges ...
