A/V Processor and Amp for B&W speakers?
That's great!  I'm glad the Monolith worked out!  I think it's a much better option than the current Emotiva "Gen 3" amps.  As far as YPAO, I personally don't like automated room correction systems.  I'd rather manually EQ something if I need and ...
Artnovion corner bass traps - anybody know if any good?
well yes.  It is a very low cost option.  The fit/finish is not going to be furniture quality, but the performance is the same.  A tuned membrane bass trap is going to perform about the same regardless of manufacturer.  GIK acoustics is targeted a...
Artnovion corner bass traps - anybody know if any good?
yeah it looks great.  Those appear to be tunable within a 20hz range.  They are only 2 feet by 2 feet squares.  Basically the same thing as a GIK Acoustics tuned membrane except the GIK is a fixed frequency (cannot be tuned).  The GIK are less tha...
Question Regarding Audio on Sony Receiver
I think your Sony receiver is automatically doing a "Dolby Pro Logic" de-coding on 2-channel audio from that source.  You should look into your receiver documentation.  There should be a way to change the sound mode from "Dolby" to "Stereo".  This...
LPS Options
I have read that Teddy Pardo is a very quiet power supply.  Very nice for the money.  I think the Farad Super 3 power supplies would be a lot better (larger main capacitor bank and also larger post-regulator capacitors), but it's a lot more money....
KRELL 707, HDMI input and output (including audio and video) does not respond!
Does this happen on all HDMI ports?  Something to check.  Otherwise, you are better off sending it to Krell for repair.
S/PDIF-how different than an IC?
Pasternack makes an RCA connector that is very similar to the Canare.  It has the internal brass pin that is inserted into the RCA connector itself.  This is the same idea of a BNC-to-RCA adapter.  I don't know about the Canare, but the Pasternack...
S/PDIF-how different than an IC?
Tell me, what "special" RCA exists for an SPDIF cable?
If the PS Audio Stellar 700M is as great as all the reviewers say....
This question gets asked a lot and it all comes down to weird market timing.  There is no real reason why a certain product will have a lot of used "for sale".  That being said, I have heard this amp.  It's really not a bad amp for the money you a...
S/PDIF-how different than an IC?
Now I have ordered a custom made 1.5M S/PDIF using the Silver Apex conductor and construction from Analysis Plus. I have found that BNC cables with a BNC-to-RCA adapter actually perform better than a cable with only an RCA connector on the end.
Replace my Marantz AV7702mkII?
You could do soix's recommendation.  But if you are looking for a HT pre/pro, probably the best one I can think of that meets your needs is the Bryston SP3.  It has a fully discrete and fully balanced input stage for your 2-channel stereo analog i...
S/PDIF-how different than an IC?
Like others have said, you can technically use a standard IC for a digital S/PDIF connection.  It will work because they are both just a wire that is connected using RCA plugs.  However, the IC is likely not going to perform as well because of the...
Choice of PCI sound card for server / DAC link
I use a Pink Faun S/PDIF card (which has BNC and an AES/EBU XLR output).  It is absolutely excellent (even with stock TCXO clock).   However, the chipset they use on the card has problems with Intel platforms that use Linux (dropouts and synch aud...
Bass traps - foam cushiony items from Amazon ok?
I tried building a variable helmholtz resonator once.  It didn't work out too well and didn't really do anything.  I found that tuned membrane bass traps worked a lot better.
Bass traps - foam cushiony items from Amazon ok?
Foam is really not a good acoustic treatment.  Sure, it's cheap, but I have had weird results with foam.  The best acoustic panels are made from fiberglass strands or similar.  The cheapest of these are from GIK (or you can actually make them your...
