Cambridge 851A vs Marantz PM8006
I think the Marantz PM8006 is going sound a bit more organic, but yes, it is warm and does not have a lot of resolution/attack.  The Cambridge 851A is going to have a lot more resolution and sharpness in the sound, more detail and transparency.  A...
Time for a Pre change? Need the wisdom...
I actually have used those 10awg Beldon speaker wire from Blue Jean.  It makes an okay subwoofer speaker cable, but they overall lacking in my opinion.  They lacked the high frequency resolution and made the system sound "low fidelity" in a sense....

@captbeaver - The 7T are COMPLETELY different speakers than the older 10T.  The 7T use soft-dome ring radiator tweeters and a paper cone midrange.  I would probably put the 7T as a "Sonus Faber" type of sound.  I think the 7T would really shine wi...

I cannot remember if you told us what amplifier you are using.  I don't think the Parasound P6 preamp is going to be better than the McIntosh preamp.  It is definitely newer.  Oh yeah, you're using that Crown Class D amp.----When looking at curren...
Spam threads gone wild...
Before you all get into complaint submission, please keep in mind that Audiogon Forum here is a "free" service.  There have been several spam posts I have seen in the last several days, but we just "report them as spam" and it's generally taken ca...
First World Problem in need of Solution
@ricred - I think those amps are relatively close in sonic signature.  They are not extremely warm and not extremely fast, but both pretty neutral.  If you had a radical mismatch, I think you would notice more differences.-----@atownkeep - I hear ...
MidFi multi channel solution needed for HT.
Bryston is a very good device.  I tested the latest 7b3 monoblocks in my system.  They were just about the highest resolution amplifier I have heard, but they were not a good match. The Bryston amp is extremely fast and high resolution.  The probl...

B&K - I had a B&K 7200 a long time ago. It was a very nice amp, very powerful.  However, in the end, it was just too warm sounding for me.  Nice amp, though, if you like the warm sound.-----Sunfire Cinema Grand - I also had one of these.  ...
HT Pre\pro with digital out
The Emotiva XMC-1 is an option due to its digital out and it is a small fee for the full Dirac Live version. Please check with Emotiva on the digital output to see if the digital output will have a "Diract corrected" signal.----It does look like...
Opinion of Acurus 2 and 3 channel amplifiers is ... what?
The internals of these Acurus amps are very simple, so any good electronics repair technician can do it.  There are just the two big 23,000 uf cabs for the main power supply and looks like just one small cap per amp board (probably 100uf).
Opinion of Acurus 2 and 3 channel amplifiers is ... what?
It can be as low at 10-15 years, depending on the electrolytic capacitor.  The electrolytic caps do dry out over usage and time due to heat during use.

Best I can tell, the Acurus/Mondial amps are a slightly colored / slightly liquid type of sonic signature - much like the liquid/lush cleaner type "Class A" amps, such as the older Krell (or new Krell iBias) or even a little like Levinson (though,...

The Parasound P7 is not really a true HT Processor.  It's a 7 channel analog preamp.----For HT Processor, I would recommend getting the highest resolution processor possible, depending on your budget.  If 4K is a requirement, maybe Krell Foundatio...
Which upgraded fuse is recommended for an Onkyo and Elac setup?
Be aware that with a title like this, we may eventually get people are are so negative on fuses that this thread turns into a flame war.  That being said, it is difficult to answer your question.  In general, I think the Furutech rhodium fuses are...

1.8A is fine.   That's enough for 216 watts of A/C power, which the HT Processor will not come close to using.
