Where to start? Add to that, what components do you already have? Amp/pre-amp, cd player, dac? Whats your budget?
Low budget, just for fun Lol Tpreaves, have you been talking to her, because you're exactly right. Problem is, I can't go proposing to any girl without a stereo, now could I? In all actuality, I got her some cd's and the only way she can listen to them currently is throug...
great speaker buys on Craigslist Tpreaves, they're actually small loud ones, and sorry, I'll turn it down! On a side note, I'll trade you. Those Tyler's look purty nice ;-)
bi-wire vs jumpers I've been giving this some thought also. I wonder if it matters if they are going through the same crossover anyways. Also, if you do bi-wire, do you want half the power going to your tweeter when it uses so little power? Wouldn't you in theory be...
Speaker Cable Recommendation Akg_ca is spot on. Same cables sound different in different systems. Try to get ahold of as many as you can at the same time and do critical listening with a/b testing. Listen for detail (cymbals, plucking of guitar strings, drums), how harsh or b...
Kimber PK10 vs Pangea AC-9SE Cullen power cords are looking interesting to me. I was going to go pangea ac-9 and ac14se, but I think I'm going to try cullen power cords instead. search here on audiogon under the buy section for cullen. See what you think.
Audioquest Rocket 44 speaker cable. Any good?? For me, in my system, the rocket 44's had good mids and that was it. Kind of dull, not detailed, weak bass. Wouldn't pay $200 for them, that's for sure. I've got a 7 foot pair. If you're interested, I'd let them go for $50.
Should I use a separate transport? I'm using a denon dvd 2900 also (paid $100 off craigslist) as a transport connected to a musical fidelity v-dacII with a pangea p-100 power supply. All together it was $600 and sounds pretty decent!
Brass footers for speakers lol @ Wolf, never thought about that. Have you tried secretly installing them on your spouses shoes ;-)
Paradigm studio 20 vs 60? Help please Just going to sit tight until I can do a definite upgrade. Bought some decent stands yesterday for $20, drilled holes and put spikes (which my local stereo shop was nice enough to give me for free) in the bottom of the stands and I'm gonna call it...
My two cents... Lol, I suppose that makes me an audiophile. I really do need to buy some acoustic panels. I was going to try to make some but after ordering some owens corning, running all over town and then building them, I figured I'd just buy some. Don't reall...
Paradigm studio 20 vs 60? Help please Aaronknock, There is a pair of pair of focal 806v's for sale locally for $500. I do have a nice sub that I am currently using. Do you think I should but the focal 806v's? Kzhtoo, those dynaudio 140's look nice too! I like dynaudio quite a bit. Som...
My two cents... If the gear doesn't make a difference, then why aren't we all using $200.00 receivers? If balanced xlr's, $300 speaker cable, external dacs and upgraded power supplies don't make a difference, how come I heard an audible difference with each of th...
Paradigm studio 20 vs 60? Help please Sthomas, Dang you, makin me question myself again...Have you owned both the studio 20's and studio 60's (both v.5)? If so please tell me what your thoughts are. I guess I could try selling my 20's used for $900 and put $600 with it and buy somethi...
Paradigm studio 20 vs 60? Help please I did go and listen to both speakers lastnight side by side. We were using the same exact set-up for each as we had to disconnect one pair and using the same speaker cable, connect it to the other pair. The studio 60's had way more bass. It was in... |
