Listening position/speaker position @willyht With all due respect, your friend is an idiot, or at the very least knows nothing about room acoustics. You are doing it right, I would just move the speakers a little further from the front wall, like close to 5ft. As far as the listen...
Should we care if a piece of equipment comes from a pet-free, kid-free, smoke-free home? I highly recommend to stay away from vinyl stored in a smoking environment, simply gross.
I need a extension cord with @curiousjim Look at the quad box from Parick Cullen. I had one, great quality box for the $.
Records not stored vertically for decades @soix As to the integrity of the grooves storing them horizontally, if the vinyl is stored in paper sleeves, paper deposits will probably be encrusted into them deeper, hence you'll need some good wash. I use ultrasonic. And then switch to plast...
People complain about lack of bass, not enough mid range. Solution? Ok, I get it now. No room acoustic treatments needed and bi-amping is the key. I'm doing it all wrong.
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments? If you can't get a dedicated listening room or install acoustic treatment, whatever the reasons may be, then by all means, try to make it up with equipment alone. However to try to talk yourself in believing that a properly setup room is unecessar...
Buying Used Speakers Light speakers, no problem. Heavy speakers, personal pickup only is my recommendation. My latest weigh well over 200 lbs each. I live near Austin, bought them used in Fort Worth. Saved me 13 k. Ad was posted both on audiogon and USAM. Seller had a...
What is the quality and performance level of Fluance turntables?? I second the Pioneer PLX 1000. I got one mounted with a Sumiko Starling cart and it competes very well with my VPI Classic/Lyra Kleos combo. It is not just a DJ table and it is nice to have a quality direct drive table.
Should Speaker Manufactures provide a Frequency Response Graph? If graphs are important to you, check out Ascend Acoustics. They provided them and even included a copy of my specific pair of raal towers in the shipping box. That was more than 10 years ago. I even discussed it with the owner. They were just sli...
miniDSP SHD integration They are plugged again since Eric convinced me it can't hurt the speakers. I listened to some heavy electronics on my streamer and had no need to adjust the subs to tame the bass. It's all good. Thanks @erik_squires.
miniDSP SHD integration My issue is strictly music related. I use my streamer almost entirely for electronic music and like to play it at 75 db, hence the overamplified bass issue. My vinyl and CDs collections have less than 5% electronic music and bass is perfect.
miniDSP SHD integration Much appreciated. It's only my streaming that at times needs some taming of the bass which I do on my dual subs. I did try plugging the ports on the mains before with similar results but was worried about messing with the integrity of the mains. Y...
miniDSP SHD integration @erik_squires Lately I have seen you mentioning plugging ports on the mains to help with bass control. Obviously you must be on the camp of those who don't think the speakers can be hurt by plugging the ports. Can you elaborate on that and how y...
No discussion about the Synergistic Pink fuse? Purple has been great for my dac and CD transport, but too bright for my phono preamp. Jokes can be made of their effectiveness but they are the bottle neck to power reaching your equipment. That's a fact. In certain cases, they offer better impro...
I see the issue with ABX blind testing @dwcda I'm with audphile1 on this one. Start improving the room before you mess with the cables. Sub in front center between speakers can't be good. If it's temporary and you don't use it, move it out. Dual subs on opposite walls outside of spea... |
