Gustard R26 Interesting, there never was any update for the x26 I have had for 9 months. Obviously the r26 is new technology to them.
Listening after your entire system was powered off cold for a week+ I don't have to disconnect anything for any amount of time to notice a difference upon start up. Whether it's the analog end, CD player or streamer, they always sound better after a half hour to an hour warm up. And keep getting better after that....
Steely Dan Catalog on UHQR Vinyl @alan60 I hear you. Agreed on reading reviews on new music and being disappointed once buying the album. Done that multiple times. That's where streaming truly gives its best value. You can listen to anything you chose for basically free other t...
What are/were the best sounding cheap components you have ever had? Easy. The current Sangea HDT-20 HD radio fm tuner. Unbelievable sound with attached indoor antenna for under $200!
The MoFi Mess and TAS rolling over for them I did not renew my TAS and Stereophile subscriptions this year. Enough said about that. As for MOFI, there are some real good early ones, like Supertramp crime of the century and Little Feat the live Columbus album. Luckily, with my 2K+ vinyl co...
Steely Dan Catalog on UHQR Vinyl If I have to listen to one more audiophile reference album in my vinyl collection like any Steely Dan, please retire me to the funny farm. That's exactly why I am getting so involved in streaming, so I can make new discoveries every single day. Li...
What’s your latest high-end audio purchase? Small Green Computer optical isolation bundle to clean up the ethernet cable signal from wifi extender to streamer. Subtle improvement, nothing major, in clarity and sense of space. For $350, it was worth it to me. Probably similar improvement to ...
DAC suggestions This might be of interest to some. I was looking at the wyred4sound 10th anniversary dac and inquired about the I2s connection for my Jay's cdt2 mk3. It is a different configuration and will not work. The Gustard and denafrips I2s do work with the...

Tuner - FM over the air - suggestions @curtdr Sangean, I have it listed under my system. I live 40 miles out of Austin in the hill country and yet the supplied cable antenna works flawlessly for multiple stations. The sound on some digital stations is spectacular for radio, maybe 80...
Where to invest the most in the "digital chain"? Main reason is the DAC is the brain of the digital system, it can not only send a streamer signals to your amp/preamp but also a CD transporter.
Where to invest the most in the "digital chain"? Room first DAC second
Recommendations for HiFi Listening Room Always refreshing to see some members who truly appreciate the value of the room first before the audio equipment. It's like a house, without a solid foundation all you got is a house of cards. Lots of wasted effort and money. Smart of the OP to h...
Recommendations for HiFi Listening Room @brewerslaw I hate to say this, but whatever audio equipment you bring into this large room, you will have to make some sizable acoustic treatment investment to get the best sound out of it. Make sure you set aside at least $5,000 to treat your ...
Suggestion for $10K soup to nuts digital? Interesting to see it does not work for the N200! It's always something in the streaming world... |
