Recommended for Americana Fans: Amanda Ann Platt and the Honeycutters
Good point Stuart. One facet of learning to drum is limb independence, all four playing independently from each other (like rubbing your belly while patting your head, times two). I myself am impressed by piano players, who have to learn indepe...

On the other hand Stuart, bass is the natural partner to drums. In the Crowell & Harris clip, the bass player is at the back of the stage with the drummer, right where bassists belong.
Pop album that has stood the test of time
@knownothing: I too am fortunate in having seen Rockpile in 1980. Three nights in a row, at The Country Club in Reseda California. Tickets were ten bucks! I also saw Little Village live, on a sound stage in North Hollywood at an industry-only ...

@stuartk: Starting an Americana thread is a GREAT idea! I’ll be tied up with a coupla matters for a few days, but if no one else has started one by the end of the week perhaps I’ll give it a shot. For now, here’s a great performance by two Ame...
Record Cleaning Machine ~ Ultrasonic vs. Rest
@lewm: The HW-16.5 does NOT have a bidirectional motor, the HW-17 does. The 16.5 is roughly square in shape (width and depth being about equal), the 17 rectangular (the width considerably greater than the depth). Assuming you have the 17, you c...
Pop album that has stood the test of time
@knownothing: If you like the Little Villager album, make sure to grab a copy of John Hiatt’s Bring The Family album (unless you already have it). John was given carte blanche to use any musicians he wanted on the album, and chose Ry Cooder, Ni...
New In 2024
Just announced by Capitol Records for release on vinyl later this month: the two Jellyfish albums. "Mastered from the original analog master tapes" for what that’s worth, and pressed on 180g vinyl. The listing in today's Elusive Disc promo ema...
Downsizing from tower to bookshelf
@immathewj: You must be thinking of my thread about the Eminent Technology LFT-8 loudspeaker, which like the PS Audio Aspen speakers utilizes planar-magnetic drivers, a major point of discussion in that thread. I haven’t heard any of the PS Aud...
Black Friday Record Store Day 2024.
Wow @mofimadness, that IS quite a haul! I’ve spent more in past RSD’s, this one being the lightest yet for me. That leaves me more $ for regular releases, both old and new. Music Millennium has lots of used LP’s in Near Mint condition priced a...
Pop album that has stood the test of time
I don’t know Steve, but Andrew Gold’s s/t debut album and it’s follow-up What’s Wrong With This Picture? certainly deserve inclusion. Both contain excellent Power Pop. Another overlooked guy is Phil Seymour, who did two solo albums after leavi...
Having a Flashback Friday - Airplane Induced
The last time I tripped (spring of 1968), I was achieving lift off just as the first track on Jefferson Airplane's After Bathing At Baxter's album was beginning. I can't hear that album without getting a mild flashback.

Bob Bradley is one of my favorite Vinyl Community content providers, his YouTube videos being well worth the time it takes to watch them. Though our musical tastes overlap only marginally, I really like Bob's personality, and his perspective on...
Pop album that has stood the test of time
"Pop" used to mean anything non-Classical, but these days I think of it in terms of short(er) songs with good melodies, hooky sing-along choruses, and the classic verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/verse/chorus structure. Pop was "the" style of m...
