Made in America Excellent point Rja. I think, but am not entirely sure, that most if not all the innards of my ARC gear and my VPI Classic is American made. OTOH, I understand that the transport ARC uses in its CDPs is made by Phillips in Euro-land.
Made in America Mrtennis, I am not trying to be crosswise with you. Your post permits the inference that we should let the free market set the price and let the chips fall where they be. That's ok. I'm not a communist. But if you're also saying that if one can get...
Made in America Made in the USA means a lot to me. Look, I've got kids who will be entering the job market within a couple of years. And so do many of you! I hope there's more out there for them than flippin' burgers or makin' coffee. I live in the Philly area. H...
VPI Classic hum Still no hum on my Classsic rig. The only thing I hear is my wife screamin' to turn the music down. LOL
so many speakers And the "best speaker you ever heard" thread is now at 1535 posts and still going strong . . . Well I agree with the Wolfman that it's all about the "mellow." If it takes $160K to get mellow, hey who am I to say boo. As for me, I'm rockin' with my...
Is it really possible to compare A/B speakers?? Viridian, which take me back to my original Q. How can one make a good judgment call on speakers?? It's almost a hit or miss exercise. Which causes me to laugh at the OP asking folks to chime in on the best speaker on the market. It's a joke.
Dynaudio focus 380 Vs paradigm S8v3? ? HELP W7, you probably made your purchase decision by now. If so, I hope you are really enjoying your rig. Don't know squat about the Dynaudio Focus speakers. I'm sure they sound great. I would like to mention however, that the reference in the post abo...
Is it really possible to compare A/B speakers?? Onhwy61, I think you are on the same page as me and Al. I am dubious that Polk's solution solves the underlying inherent problem of compatibility and synergy between the speaker and the amp and other gear. Al's thought may be the most practical --...
so many speakers Rok2id, yes . . . I agree with your take on the subject. Let me just add that there is a thread out there that pops up from time to time which asks what are the best speakers on the market, or something to that effect. At last count, there were ov...
so many speakers Just posted this OP. See above. In a way we're asking the same question. I also think my OP touches on may of the points raisd in this OP." This post is directed to the more technical members of A'gon. I've been reading numerous posts and audio re...
Sussurro Paua on JMW 10.5 arm - mini review Great review Andy. I saw the ad for the Paua and was interested in buying it for myself. Unfortunately, the gain on my phono pre is only 58 db and the gain on my linestage is 12 db, or 70 db in total. ARC, the manufacturer, said the Paua's output ...
Has anyone listened to the soundsmith Paua cart Andy . . . so did you get the Paua??? If so, how does it sound? Btw, teh re-tip charge is a bargain compared to the retip/exchange prices of other high end carties.
Are you still playing CDs after, comp based syst? I happen to agree with Pettyofficer. In fact, I just posted a note to my system description that pretty much makes the same point. Look, I'm almost 60 years old. I am tied to IT and computers as much as anyone out there. But I do not know or keep ...
Turntable arm wobbly? Setup advise Hey Stringreen, I just posted a "Kudos to Pter Ledermman" OP about a week or two ago. If you get a chance pull it and take a look at what Peter told me. For the benefit of others, I'll quickly mention that it was re-tip time for my Zephyr. It seem...
Audio Research VSi60 integrated reliability? Salectric, again . . . I may be biased in favor of ARC:My general recollection is that by way of reputation, ARC gear was generally at the top of the food chain. Yes, they made a few dogs over the years, but sh*t happens. All my gear is ARC and I ... |
