Law Of Diminishing Returns? Over and Over and Over again Money has nothing to do with sound quality. Why do you people keep positing this? It is design and parts quality that make the sound. I can modify any audio component to be as good as or better than another audio...
The problem with PLC Well great topic. I personally have found the PLS and I enjoy them every night in long listening sessions with my audio buddies. I guess I am blessed in this area. My search is now over. Happy Listening.
What to do with my legacy CD collection? Easy answer - donate them & ship them to me. I will sort through them for you! LOL
Anything more resolving than 65 year-old speakers? If I were looking for speakers today these are the ones I would purchase. Dynamikks - cannot be beat especially for the price.
Dac: Old vs New Depends on the modifications performed. If done correctly, those DACs you mention may not be an improvement at all. There really has not been that much technology advancement over the years. @audioman58 what DACs have you comp-0ared your DAC to a...
Spending a month's salary @vonhelmholtz So, your recommendation is to buy an airline ticket and figure out what sound op is looking for before arriving at your establishment? BTW.. I suspect that your description of your listening options is accura...
Solid copper or stranded copper for speaker cables? What is your choice and why? The wire is important but so is how the shielding is on the tech flex. Find some that reduces electronic noise (costs about triple standard tech flex) and use that on the positive wire run. Makes a significant difference. Don't need to use it o...
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often Having recently place the Vandersteen Sevens in our Listening Room. 83.5db. Never would have thought to pair them up with a SET 28wpc stereo amp but there you go, drove the hell out of them. So you need to try things in order to find what will ...
Why do I need a switch? OK since we just experimented with this last week, the Silent Angel makes a good streamer and switch. Like Bill says, it takes out the noise. Not sure how effective the really cheap ones are but you can test them to see if there is an improvemen...
I noticed brightness/harshness more than usual from my system a couple months back. For an easy option, try installing a pair of V-Cap ODAM capacitors in your DAC, preamp or amplifier. They could help you out for not that much money. Or you can try Amtrans capacitors for a lot less to see if that makes an impact you are looking...
Spending a month's salary First off you never mention what type of sound you like and what type of music. So all the recommendations here IMO mean nothing until I understand what you prefer. I understand the room treatment thing but again what size is your room. We have...
Used vs. new Newer speakers from the same manufacturer are not always better sounding and can just be different. I would look to buy a good used pair and use any left over funds to upgrade somewhere else
What is the VERY BEST CD album you've ever heard? My top two are Layla and the Allman Brothers Band Live at the Fillmore. That is pretty much how I learned to play the guitar. I also guess that Helter Skelter is a POP song. LOL So suggestions that I can relate to also. Happy Listening ...
What speakers work with low wattage class A amps Vandersteen model sevens with a 28wpc set amplifier happy listening
How do you find time to enjoy your $$$ speakers and system? Simple - we rent out a 1,000 foot room above a commercial building so all of the tenants are gone after hours. We get to play for hours and enjoy music. We have friends bring over their gear and out them in our systems also. We have a kitchen a... |
