Can Digital beat our Analog installations? Cerrot, I respectfully would mention that the limitation of the 44.1kHz sampling frequency is only inherent with redbook CD quality recordings. High resolution digital files continue to become more widely available in 24/96, 24/192, and DSD format...
Low frequency problem while playing vinyl If the bass output continues to increase into a 'roar' forcing you to lower the volume, you are experiencing acoustic feedback. This happens when bass energy from the speakers is coupled back into the turntable/arm/cartridge in a type of feedback ...
AMG V12 vs SME 20/12 There is a logical relationship since AMG does much of the custom machining of parts used in Brinkmann tables.
Long cables from turntable or phono stage It is not advisable to have long cables coming directly from the turntable, which is handling the very low level signal being generated from the phono cartridge. You should go with the option of keeping the phono stage relatively close to the turn...
The Conrad Johnson Premier 350: Revisited I was very happy with Hegel's H20 amp, but when an opportunity arose for me to get a new Rowland 625 I couldn't pass. I've always aspired to own Rowland gear, and the 625 is a stunning design that is an absolute joy to hear. It has a sound that is...
The Conrad Johnson Premier 350: Revisited Vance, so glad that you found an amp that performs so well in your system and brings you such enjoyment. The CJ Premier 350 was proclaimed as the best solid state amp ever made by CJ, and was accepted as one of the best in the overall market as we...
Hegel h20 h4ase or h30 Savamy, while Hegel electronics have a very smooth and involving quality, I wouldn't necessarily describe them as sounding like tube gear. They do however avoid many of the undesirable solid state artifacts that some lesser equipment exhibits. Onl...
Scraping sound Zd542, my advise was to check the main platter bearing for grease, not the tonearm's unipivot spike bearing. The later has no grease.
Scraping sound I would suggest checking for adequate lubricating grease at the top of the inverted bearing. I believe that the process is specified in the owner's manual. Otherwise a quick call to VPI could prove to be helpful.
Hegel H300 Audiozen, I have to respectfully ask whether you have had the opportunity to audition both the CODA and the Hegel amps? From your post it appears as though you may be reaching a conclusion on which is better based upon research alone.
Nottingham Space Deck Owners....Again Please The correct link seems to be: http://www.edsstuff.org/docs/nottingham/nottingham_manual_faq.pdf
Someone in Chicago to help with Maplenoll Ariadne? Before you give up fixing the air leaks yourself, I would suggest that you check an auto parts store for hose clamps of the proper size. If you need additional setup help then hiring someone might be your best alternative. Good luck!
Attention Thiel CS3.7 owners Regarding matching the H20 with a tube preamp, I have heard it used with the Manley 300B preamp several times and it proved to be an excellent combination.
Attention Thiel CS3.7 owners Vance, if the Hegel H30 at $15K is too steep I'd strongly suggest checking out their H20 which lists for $5,750. It is an excellent amp that has received universal praise in reviews worldwide. I can't answer your question as to which amp Thiel rec...
Best way to warm up the sound FYI, the Music Hall MMF-5.1 was originally provided with the Goldring 1012GX cartridge, but later the cartridge was changed to the Ortofon OEM Music Hall Magic 3. |
