Hunting down a HUM
In many designs the power switch does not switch the ground lead in the power line, so you can have ground loop hum even with the power switch set to "off".
Hunting down a HUM
So your Hovland Music Groove cable connects the grounds between your tonearm and phono stage. Have you tried adding a ground wire between the phono and line stages? This can sometimes eliminate a hum like the one your are having, but the only way ...
Importing from England
The tax bill received from the government was for the current sales tax rate at the time. If I recall correctly they referred to it as "usage tax". I would expect the tax to be the same if you bring it in yourself, but I have no direct experience ...
Importing from England
When I received some new electronics in the US shipped from the UK I was responsible for several fees. In addition to the assessed duty and brokerage fees that were due upon delivery, several months later I got a sizable bill for taxes due. It's h...
Record Doctor V - why the $200 price tag
The main shortcoming I find in these designs is the mess that they create. You apply the fluid and scrub the LP, and then you have to turn over the wet LP to vacuum it. The fluid ends up dripping everywhere! Other more expensive designs may do a s...
YBA passion 300 very important
I can't provide any help as far as sound or reliability, but according to the used price reference it retailed new for US$5,995 and its used value ranges from $2,550 to $3,100. It also shows that it was released in 2005 and its availability is 've...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?

CODA CSIb vs. HEGEL H-300 INTEGRATED
I don't believe that to be true, but Proceed was a less expensive line spun off from Mark Levinson.
RP6 so many ??

YMMV is a commonly used abbreviation for "your mileage may vary", indicating that a specific and usually subjective observation may not be universally agreed upon.
Hypex Ncore NC1200 Amps at NY Audio Show in April
Paul (from PS Audio) has clearly stated that his amp design will not be using the Ncore modules.
Amplifier Goes into Protect Mode Right Channel
I would suggest sequentially reversing the left and right IC connections at one end only, first between the linestage and amp, then between the phono and linestage. If the channel going into protect mode switches then the problem is something earl...
SoundSmith Sassuro Paula and Manley Steelhead
It's absolutely possible! Just use the MM inputs, which avoid going through the step up transformers and you can then access the MM load settings. In the manual they state that you should feel free to use either input regardless of the type of car...
