Spendor D9.2 vs. Harbeth super hl5 plus xd + REL Stentor III vs. Spendor Classic 100? I had the D7 with a Leben CS600 and the treble was more detailed than some might like, but it wasn't fatiguing to me.
Anyone drive Verity Audio Parsifal Encores with tubes? Please keep us posted with regard to your adventure. If I'd invested in plexiglass futures I'd set up a dedicated room Parsifal Anniversary driven with big tube amps. Your mission is worthy.
Anyone drive Verity Audio Parsifal Encores with tubes? When I had mine I drove them primarily with Luxman Class A which was nice, but I auditioned them with an ARC Ref 110 and they sounded great. I didn't want to get into big tube amps at the time but if you go down that path you will be rewarded. Th...
Wilson Alexx V Who is the guru? The site has moved a few degrees from serious to slapstick, but it still has a descent cast of characters. If you sort through the witch doctors, luddites and sycophants, arcane knowledge can be found.Wilson makes a great speaker...
Is Not Responding To An Offer Just Plain Rude? Seems like a mix of interested buyers and audiophiles looking for advice lately. I've made some nice connections with some folks that share common objectives or brands over the decades. Some continue, some quickly split when you sell the kids. I'm...
HELP! Large speakers fell over during shipping. I always thought Vandersteen’s Furniture boxes were a good idea. Who want to beat up on furniture? Our fedex guy left a subwoofer on my lawn under a tree in the rain. Wouldn’t do that with furniture. The boxes were destroyed you say?
I saved alot of money. I've found that once you enter into the "high end" the reward ratio can be a slippery slope. If your room treatment and layout is not perfect, you just end up chasing small gains, which is fine, but few of them have any substance. YMMV.
Spendor D9.2 vs. Harbeth super hl5 plus xd + REL Stentor III vs. Spendor Classic 100? I've been on a bit of a speaker bender over the past 6 months. I find the D7 to be detailed but pretty easy to listen to with all kinds of music. It's been years since I've heard the classic so will leave that to others to compare.
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... Sounds_real_audio yes I agree about speed, but I have heard speakers that have speed in some areas but not others. I think I could call it dynamic impact as well. Where the flow of the whole of the music is fast- impactful- large swings when calle...
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... I appreciate the above content. it’s a good mix of practical and contemplative thoughts on what it is we are looking to achieve. Does anyone have any experience with Gershman? It would be a complete scratch of the "low power" desire but we have to...
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I don’t always often check on these pages but I’ve made notes of the above suggestions. One I want to direct to DJ regarding the Adam Audio. Thanks for recommending the monitor with that kind of range. I curren...
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... djones51 perhaps I am not using the word for its intended purpose. Transparent in my mind is lifelike, in the room presence, clear. Opposite might be veiled, rich. I welcome some of your descriptors on what I see as a sliding scale.
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... Tvad, I agree with your statement. Every combination has its synergy just as every part of our beautiful world has its season- although many are harsh :)douglas_schroeder, I agree with your reasoning completely, which kind of brings me back to th...
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... Soix, thanks for the Pulsar suggestion. In another setup I had a pair of Verity Parsifals and would run just the monitor on occasion. Those have some similarities.
Low power- transparency, dimension, dynamics and bass, or... SRA I had a Response D2 five years or so ago with an old rel sub. I enjoyed it but I soon went to a tower speaker because it lacked some slam. I like your 300b thoughts but like to feel bass. Appreciate your remarks they are making me walk through... |
