How does one get off the merry-go-round? 2nd the -embrace it- theory. If you hear the expensive stuff you may realize it really isn't as great as it's hyped to be. If you don't go out and listen, well; your imagination can play on all the hype you read and make you think $20,000 speakers...
Hum with surge protector Sugarbire has a good suggestion. I had a PS Audio HCA-2 that put a hum in the speakers even after removing the ground. Had to plug the amp right into the wall. I use a Tripp-Lite isotel.
Solid state design options... Add distortion from 2-80,000hz, dual mono, well designed power supply that doesn't need cleaning up with ISO transformer, power cord, etc.
Time coherence - how important and what speakers? So I guess I should pass over the NSM because the drivers are too close together? I'm not surprised they aren't time coherent.I guess this is the A-A thread;Roy's comments on JordanJordan driver speakers now don't sound like they are worth the $1,...
Which speaker is the master of IMAGING ???? Brentworth bested the imaging even of Virgos.
Opinions on why this system is uninvolving Studios must not be very good. I've been to two Revel dealers. When I tell them I own B&W they won't even let me listen to Revel. Waste of their time I guess.

$500 mini system suggestions, Bose need not apply Harman Kardon receiver $188 at www.harmanaudio.com and some Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 for $328. This will beat mini systems.Denon is dead sounding without PRAT but is calming. Same for JVS FS-7000 $300 at Tweeters, better PRAT.

Strangest Tweak? Bonding is not a good idea, hard to get the paper off the amp :-).Actually 24 lb bond paper impregnated with carbon and copper fibers blocks EMI buildup in the machine. White color reflects the heat back into the amp for a quicker warmup. Although...
Recommendations for tube amp to replace Plinius Electrocompaniet is very tube like in the mids and high's but doesn't have much bass.
Holy Grail of Audio Systems Audiophanatik, the key word in your post is "hobby". It's not just "purchase and forget about it" if it's a hobby.
Strangest Tweak? I leave a piece of 11x17 paper atop my power amp when not in use. It keeps the dust from getting into the amp's vent holes and speeds up warmup when I turn it on.There is a better thread about strange audio habits but I couldn't find it. So I post...
Optimal Speaker Placement The equilateral traingle placement method really works.I was listening to Sade Live and realized that it didn't sound like I was at a live event. Instead I was outside the building listening through the front door.My speakers were about 6 feet apa... |
