CD player for Mcintosh/Krell int amp The krell 400xi may be the best sounding component ever made for it's price...I like it more than the evo rig I sold last year. My SACD standard was upgraded for free by krell to V3 status (Evo505 internals). With Transparent power cords and MIT O...
Speaker direction? The more toe in used the the smaller the soundstage. Dynamics are also compressed. Some frequencies will be reduced more and others accentuated depending on room placement. The only reason I sold my Watt/Puppy 6's was do to the design flaw of havi...
Audio Research REF 3 I've owned the LS16, LS25, ref 2 and Ref 3...the LS 25 was more musical than any of the other offerings. The 6H50 tube was the last nail in the coffin for ARC...might as well be solid state (not very good SS either). That said, the Ref3 can sound ...
NAD M3/Marantz PM11 The M3 is very detailed sounding but changes character when pushed hard. A Krell 400xi, MF integrated or a Sim integrated would be better choices.
Audio Research model range Audio Research has a web site and a phone...maybe you could call them or a dealer. Value is not one of their hallmarks any longer. I have owned most of the lineup over the years. Budget will dictate what you should be concerned about.
Krell kav-400xi with show case dvd or dvd standad? I have owned many reference class systems with both single ended and balanced. The bottom line is that both can sound wonderful, but balanced brings a heightened sense of presence, palpability, low level detail and contrast...kinda more there ther...
Krell kav-400xi with show case dvd or dvd standad? It is not just louder, but gives a lower noise floor with less audio band contamination for blacker backgrounds and more low level information. Balanced will be an improvement in a balanced system that is properly set up!
Power conditioner or not? After further listening and critical examination with very familiar material, the conditioner DID rob the audio band of low level information and detail...extended listening is always key!! OOOPs, my bad!
Cable Costs Relative to System Cable differences should be fairly easy to hear on a 30K system...unless you truly can't hear it, in which case you shouldn't be able to hear the difference between the 30K system and pair of JBL's and a reciever. Given that, I would cash in the s...
Pick a preamp for my system: Ayre or MBL Krell 222 would be superb, actually better than the two box unit (202). For tubes I would go with the LS 26 from ARC.
Power conditioner or not? Why thank you Goldeneraguy! Somehow, my many other posts over the years regarding extremely inexpensive gear that I thought was also the best of their respective categories, has gone unnoticed by some. Happiness comes in many forms:) I can only gi...
Anybody heard Krell SACD mkIII? My unit is working well and sounding phenomenal. It does take a few hundred hours for this puppy to open up and even out, but worth it for sure. Not bad sending in a broken unit I paid $3200 for and getting back a $6000 player at no charge...that'...
Power conditioner or not? Sorry, I thought it was implied that I meant "One of the best of the best", regarding MIT products. I am sure there are a number of cables and conditioners that might be considered in this same league by other audiophiles. The most obvious differe...
Cable Costs Relative to System Rugyboogie states the facts very well and without the abrasiveness if some other would be Shaman of things high end.
Power conditioner or not? Audiofeil is lucid as always, if not a little terse. His points are all well taken and fully understood. My bias and passions have been laid bare before the altar of the almighty. Still, my 46 + years as a musician, music lover and high end enthus... |
