Shunyata Sigma V2 vs Synergistic Research Atmosphere level 3
I use all shunyata! My fav.
Yep much to do about nothing. Fear brains.
I think the whole situation has been great for tube sales, especially Russian tubes. That’s sad.
Many higher end preamps are dated and ugly, why is this?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say.
Onkyo has filed for bankruptcy
My father bought an onkyo receiver in the early seventies, nice looks and sound. Sad to hear this. Somehow I thought that NAD owned them, but not really sure. Scotty to see some of theses brands go. I wish them luck.
Are Tube Buffers for real or even worth it ?
That’s like “dabbling” in the tube world. I started that way.  When I liked what I heard I invested in a tube preamp. Like @russ69 recommends. Think of it as the “gateway drug” to the tube audio experience.
Question about speaker angle
I also have Tannoys and have them towed in. I have them placed about 18 -20 ft apart. I get an amazingly wide sound stage.
How accurate are cable descriptions for your system?
I don’t know if this answers the question specifically but, in my system I am initially sense (hear)  the “general or house sound” of the cable. Whether that be lean, more bass, midrange, muddled, shrill, etc etc. Then as you go up the line on a c...
Almost equality
Congratulations, enjoy your rig! That’s what this is all about.
Most Realistic Recordings
Joe Jackson, Body and Soul 45rpm 12 in vinyl. Amazing sound stage. I believe It was recorded in a Masonic lodge, and you can definitely hear and experience the venue. Breathtaking!
Why is used audio equipment so undesirable?
I buy used all the time. A no brainer on saving money. Markups on some products are really high and buying used makes sense. Your not the one taking the hit on depreciation.
"World's Best Cables" vs Audioquest interconnects
I’ve never bought audiophile cables on Amazon….
Better sound on rainy days?
@mitchb I’ll have to admin I do agree! Also, never test drive a car on a rainy day. They drive smoother a quieter. I know that has nothing to do with why our audio systems sound on a rainy day but was the only analogy that came to mind. interestin...
How does the VPI Aries II stand up to current mid priced tables?
Use the Walker Speed Control. It works great on my VPI Scout II. Love VPI. The upgrade path on these is an audiophile tweeters dream.
5AR4 rectifier tube question
@avanti1960 I may try that, but in my McIntosh mc30 s all I use are RCA for the power tubes and rectifiers. Have to find another brand of  5U4. Always willing to experiment.
