Grado Epoch 3 @mijostyn if by iliac crest autographs you mean bone marrow aspiration/biopsy I know exactly what you mean.
Grado Epoch 3 @mijostyn TKRs are rather painful, so I hope you will soon be able to be home and soothed by some excellent music!
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation" Do you have no comprehension the relationships between England and France over the Centuries. Have you forgotten all your History lessons. 1066. Once again, we need an ignore button.
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation" Absolutely right, @lewm, but combined with: I just can't imagine what kind of contamination you are encountering on these records that requires alcohol for removal. it is obvious to all that alcohol (of any chain length) isn't much good as a w...
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation" Wizzzard, please read my post again. No physician in the UK is technically a doctor, unless he or she has done an MD. Yet all are called 'doctor' as a courtesy (it refers to their post rather than a qualification). Once a would be surgeon, or obst...
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation" Actually, @lewm , in the UK surgical specialists are ’Mister’ in a nod to their barber-surgeon past, but non-surgical physicians are called ’Doctor.’ Now the funny thing is this, they get called doctor only by courtesy, as the three forms of medic...
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation" There's an awful lot of 'post removed' going on in this thread. I must have missed all the good/bad bits. It is true that vacuum drying is better than air drying as evaporation is going to leave the suspended dirt on the record. Even so, assuming...
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation" Notes from a previous life: benzalkonium chloride is used in sore throat lozenges and spermicidal creams. Maybe we shall see nonoxynol-9 used on LPs one day (a new way of "being careful" with your records)?
Complete vinyl system, TT to speakers, for $1500? I was going to suggest a used NAD 3020 integrated, as I have no experience of, and little trust in, powered speakers, but then I read your statement that no used equipment should be suggested. OK, we can agree to disagree. So here's a freebee: do...
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation" The recipe above is 22% of 95% ethanol, which ends up as: 0.95 x 220 = 209ml pure ethanol in 780ml + 11ml (the 5% of Everclear that is water) = 791ml water, which is 26.4% ethanol in the final solution. The only reason not to use a higher volume...
Asking for members blessings on Nagaoka MP 300 purchase Agreed that the MP-500 is desirable, mine outperforms my Grado Statement 3 and my Soundsmith Sussurro MkII. It is very close to my London Decca Reference. I can't say anything better than that!
Perfect Vinyl Forever @terry9 No matter chronological age, some people aren't mature enough to deal with any advice, even if well-meant but perhaps mistaken as mine might have been. A reasonable response could have been "I see why you say that about 2007, but actually...
Perfect Vinyl Forever wolfie62: not all U/S are created equal, and back in 2007 you'd be looking at lower frequency and less powerful transducers. I clean with a Loricraft followed by a Degritter. I can't cure scratches(!), but it is rare for a record not to be silent ...
Ben-Micro MC-3 Moving-Coil Cartridge Thank you - it is interesting to read reviews from an era when they seemed honest and fair. Perhaps I was just more innocent then and believed them. Also nice to see the recordings being used from Opus 3, Proprius and Chesky. I still think the Opu...
Which MM, MI, or Hi output...Nagaoka 300/500, Clearaudio Maestro, Soundsmith Carmen I have a Soundsmith Sussurro MkII (just below the Hyperion in their range) and the MP-500 is easily better in my system. It is also clearly better than the Grado Statement 3 that I also have. I'd say it is just a bit better than the Ortofon Cadenz... |
