Solid state DAC under 12K retail preferably with ethernet
The Hegel HD30 and the new Bel Canto Black EX DAC that will be out shortly could be great options for you with Ethernet. As mentioned earlier as well, the T+A R series player/DACs also have Ethernet.
Alta Audio speakers--anyone heard them?
We're a fairly new Canadian dealer for Alta Audio. We haven't heard the Titanium Hestia's yet. We currently have the Lelantos and IO in stock. Both are excellent speakers. Full extended bass for the money with good levels of detail, but not analyt...
All in one solution for bedroom system. Suggestions from all appreciated.
I agree that the Bluesound Powernode 2 is an excellent piece. It won't match something like the Hegel Rost in terms of sound quality, but at its price point, it is really very impressive.

Sorry, you have the wrong guy. We're a dealer in Canada. I hope you find a good match. I believe your speakers are supposed to be an easy drive, so you have lots of options.

Sounds like a Hegel Rost would be a perfect match. Disclosure: we're a Hegel dealer. However, there are a number of similar options such as the Simaudio Ace and many more that would have plenty of power for those speakers with good built-in DACs, ...
Computer, CD transport or Network Player?
mewsickbuff, optimizing a computer for superior playback involves the reduction or elimination of as much as possible that's not audio related. Uninstalling as much a possible, turning off a wide variety of system services, etc. That's why I don't...
Computer, CD transport or Network Player?
Agree that you can go any route provided, but, with respect to shadorne, I disagree that there is no difference. Even with DACs that handle jitter extremely well, I've still heard the differences between the options mentioned by mewsickbuff. How m...
Computer, CD transport or Network Player?
I prefer not having a computer in the system. For myself, I use a Melco N1A/2 Digital Music Library with USB out going to my DAC. That has been my favourite so far. Disclosure: we're Melco dealers, so you can take that with a grain of salt if you ...
Good sounding head unit / NAV for car?
I have a Kenwood Excelon DVD/Garmin NAV unit that I've had for a couple of years now. I do like the sound a lot and am able to play up to 24/192 FLAC files as well. The 13 band EQ also allowed me to tame a big 60Hz hump in my bass. I'd highly reco...
Scansonic MB2.5 floor stander speaker. Does it complete with often speaker at $3500??
We fed them with high quality gear and placement well away from room boundaries and still no luck. I can see where some may like the sound, but they weren't for us at all and we felt they didn't live up to the hype. We really wanted to like them a...
Scansonic MB2.5 floor stander speaker. Does it complete with often speaker at $3500??
We tried a pair of the MB2.5 from a distributor to see if we might want to carry the line. We did extended break-in of the speakers, since the distributor said they probably only had about 100 hours of play. So, we proceeded to put on probably ano...
Class D = Trash?
northernfox: we've been super impressed with the Bel Canto REF600M as well. They're a huge step up from the old REF500M in my opinion. We're currently driving them in one of our demo systems being fed by the Bel Canto DAC3.7. An excellent combinat...
Bluesound Vault 2 or Node 2?
There are a lot of great audiophile options if you want to go higher than Bluesound as well. We use Melco Digital Music Libraries. The Melco N1A is a very popular unit. There are plenty of pieces as well from companies like Aurender, Lumin and more.
Hooking up Sonos to Hegel 360
Is there a reason to bother connecting the Sonos to the H360? I would imagine that you should be able to access the music you need via the Ethernet input of the H360.
Bluesound Vault 2 or Node 2?
The Vault 2 does require an Ethernet connection, but the Node 2 can be used via wifi. Your existing network cable should work absolutely fine with the Vault 2. It all comes down to how you want to store your music. The Vault 2 gives you an easy st...
