Natural, musical, dynamic phono preamp 700 used
Tonally accurate, musical, dynamic? EAR 834P. Have lived with this preamp (highly modified), and can tell you that it sounds (now, and pre-mods) like what you are looking for. Getting on in age? So are LP's; in the opinion of many.

Toots Thielemans
I guess I would argue with the "best" statement. For "best " harmonica player designation, it would be hard to not look at Larry Adler, an amazing virtuoso. But I would certainly agree that Toots is the best Jazz harmonica player. If you like "Aqu...
Biggest impact on you?
Three components come to mind that had a huge impact not just for their sound, but also for the education that they gave me about system building:I will never forget the first time I heard the AR SP-9 in my system. It was the first time that I had...
A Good Match?
Consider the amp's sound, not just it's ability to "drive" the Hales. The Hales are terrific speakers, but they are lean sounding. You should consider an amp that will give the sound a little meat-on-the-bones. FWIW, the WhatHifi review describes ...
Live Performances Gone Awry
I attended a performance by musical genius Hermeto Pascoal at NYC's Town Hall back in the late '80's. A couple of minutes into the third tune, he abruptly cut the band off and walked off stage; end of show. I spoke to one of his saxophonists later...
Can a "pushed in" dome tweeter + midrange be savev
No.6 in particular should be very effective. All you would have to do is show the dented woofer a picture of No.6, and it would immediately fix itself, lest those lips get anywhere near it.
Can a "pushed in" dome tweeter + midrange be savev
Most soft domes don't require much suction to fix when pushed in, so the cardboard tube idea should work. If not, do what I have done with my Dynaudio tweeters: use your mouth. Not kidding. Just place your lips very gently over the middle area of ...
Upgrading Fuses
Nicely stated, Lacee. I agree with your perspective save one comment:*****What's the satisfaction? Is it a sense of superiority that he is too smart to fall for such drivel as a fuse having any significance?*****I think you got it backwards. It is...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Thanks Raul. I thought I had bought his last one.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Thanks Acman3/Timeltel for the heads-up. I just purchased the last (I think) of the 420 STR's from eBay/ Italy. Timeltel, as a followup to our previous exchange on a different thread, I was forced to return the previously purchased 412 STR (eBay/U...
Romantic Trombone Concertos

Upgrading Fuses
Metro04, funny you should bring up Starbucks. Just this morning my wife wife was telling me how she had gone into Starbucks a couple of days ago to buy her bean and favorite banana-nut muffin. The young man behind the counter absolutely refused to...
The greatest MM and MI cartridges ....
Thanks, Timeltel. Agreed, let's touch base again in a couple of weeks.
My audiophile take on the symphony last night.
****"Funny thing about live music - no matter how bad the acoustics are, you can tell it's live and not recorded." (-Chayro)Probably true. What our ears hear when listening is only part of the story though.**** -MapmanC1ferrari, what Mapman wrote ...
