Very Bad purchase from upscale audio Acoustic Zen Adagio
As long as you contacted Upscale about the DOA tweeter within 48 hours after you received the speakers, then inform them that you are expecting them to honor their end of the terms and conditions as posted on their web site. They are obligated to ...
Power an amp and component with batteries instead of direct outlet power?
It's not a question if it works but if it will sell. That is always the answer to "Why not do..."
Home Wiring Improvements For Better Quality Sound
A word of warning: those compression lugs on the service entrance conductors are live even if the main breaker is switched off. This is a job ONLY for a qualified electrician.
home circuit breaker - good idea or not to increase to higher amp fuse?
Take a look at the mains fuse rating on your amp and you will see that it's much less than 20-amp. That limits the amperage draw to the amplifier and it would make no difference if the breaker and wiring to the amp handles 20, 30 or whatever amps.
Quality of outlet not directly powering equipment important?
If you remove receptacle 1, are the rest of the outlets still powered? If so, then the receptacles are pig tailed and the first three are not in the chain to the equipment outlet or to each other. They are bypassed by wire nut connections. So if y...
Insane ground loop; anybody wanna try?
Did you try changing tubes?
Can't tell,if my house is properly grounded
I second Erik's suggestion of having a tech look at it. There is the possibility that a safety cap in the receptacle is leaking ac, especially the one from N to ground. If the fuse blew with that extension cord, it's possible you reversed polarity...
They Almost Never Quote A Price , Why?
I just looked at websites that make wood glue... and noticed they don't state prices either. They redirect you to retailers instead. It probably has to do with the manufacturer not selling direct rather than snobbery.
Why are Harbeth speakers expensive while its drivers are not.
The simple answer is if they sold it at a lower (or higher) price, the decrease in revenue would not make it economically feasible to produce the speaker.Selling at a lower price decreases revenue and creates a higher demand. Selling at a higher p...
High End Amp Price Collapse musings
The only price collapse I've seen is the Levinson 53 in the used market. Switched output stage technology has long way to go.
Need Help to Understand Issue with Volume Control
You have to measure the output voltage to make sure the unit is to spec. If it's a lot higher than 2.2 volts then that is most likely the problem.
Low level crackling sound coming from speakers
I would guess a loose/broken solder joint on a component somewhere near the heat sinks.
room space
One thing that would concern me is the height of the 3.3's woofers in that size room. When there are two woofers and their dimensions from the floor are approximately the same as the distance from the side walls, that tends to throw off the in-roo...
How often is your system "good"?
My guess is that reviewer would have had a whole different outlook if the Yggdrasil was encased in audio jewelry with a five-figure price tag. The price tag always puts a bias in one's head and a $2300 DAC automatically discounts it from being com...
Guide for understanding wire gauge and resistance
Just another take on the rule of thumb that wire diameter doubles for each 3 AWG unit decrease (i.e., #3 is twice the diameter of #6). Adding three doubles the resistance since the area is halved and resistance is proportional to the inverse of th...
