Vandersteen 2ce questions
Have you tried moving them close to the corners in your room? That should help in the bass department. Also, your listening position may be at a null point due to interaction with your room. Try different listening positions, either closer or fart...
What city do you live in?
I live on Whidbey Island, Wa. I have not met another audio nutter in over forty years of living here. Been wondering if, and when, that day will come. Sharing this hobby is great, I have friends in Portland I share visits with, about once a year (...
Dismantle B&W 802D
Just a suggestion, you might try removing the woofer (I think that model has two woofers, so it would be the upper one), and then look up to the top inside, and see if there are any fasteners there for the mid/tweeter shell.Just a guess, but that ...
what did you purchase after PS AUDIO GCPH PHONO?
After the GCPH, I went for a Simaudio Moon LP 5.3 with outboard power supply. It was a large step up from the GCPH. Now I use a Modwright SWP 9.0 SE, with upgraded power supply, which is better yet.Good luck, regards,Dan
Life of a PS Audio PowerPlant??
The caps on the P 300 will go bad after a number of years, which happened to me. Call PS Audio, and arrange to send it to them, and they will completly restore it for $250.Regards,Dan
Friday Night in San Francisco
I am fortunate to have both an SACD-only copy (Columbia/Legacy CS 65168), and the original Columbia LP (C-37152).They both sound excellent. I believe I got both of them used, which is what I advise you to do. I can't see spending $55 for the 45 ve...

Phono Pre-Amp Questions
As with everything else in audio, phono pres come in many different configurations, features, and price tags. For what you're planning on spending, I don't know that you'll find much that betters your current phono stage. You might look at PS Audio...
Modest Speakers for Large Room
My listening room is large, like yours, with cathedral ceilings, and one end open to kitchen/dinig room. I have my speakers well into the room, from the short wall, and listem moderately in the nearfield, at eight feet from both speakers, they bei...
1 Sub, 2 Functions
Well, first of all, my main objective is two channel. I have two systems, integrated together, with separate preamps, and amplifiers. Using just the .1 channel in my pre-pro was just too limiting for me in available options. (My pre-pro is an olde...
will mimetism 20.1 balanced cd player make a major
Until recently, I used a Marantz DV 8300 universal player, with an outboard A3/24 DAC. These two delivered good, but not great, sound quality, as you would expect. To better the quality of playback, I had the player and DAC heavily modified, and us...
1 Sub, 2 Functions
I just hook my sub up using the high-level inputs on the sub, right off my separate two-channel amp. It is set up so it powers the front speakers no matter whether in two-channel or multi-channel through the pre-pro, just deselect the sub in both ...
Cartridge Tonearm compatability
While I haven't heard my Zu Denon 103R with a Jelco SA750, it sure is working a treat with the Dynavector 501 arm I have it mounted on. Sounds like much money was spent, which only makes it better. I love it when things work out that way.Regards,Dan
has anyone heard the Tannoy Kingdom Royal?
I talked to Kevin Hayes, owner and chief design engineer at VAC, and what he says is that they are a must-hear, even if you can't afford 'em. He maintains they are very special, and he uses them to demo his equipment at shows. That says a lot about...
Ground Loop in HT system???...HELP
I may be wrong here, but I suspect it's your cable tv box. How do you know it's not the tv box? Even when it's not turned on, your tv is still hooked to it, continuing the grounding pattern. The only ground loop problem I've ever had involved this...
