How long do NOS 6L6gc power tubes last in a Mcintosh MC240 amp? tomic601 is correct. the MC240 is pretty easy on tubes. not sure what speakers you are using but try both 8 and 4 ohm taps. usually one will sound a bit better. Also try some KT66s in the 240. not sure if your 240 is original or not, but greatest ...
Thoughts about buying a Bedini 100 I used to have the 25/25.they do run pretty warm, not sure if its possible or not, but before you buy can you check the main filter caps? If not, then you have to assume they may need some work. you can buy an ESR meter pretty inexpensively these...
What Do You Think of This Device: Parasound Zphono-USB @bob540,too good. same also applies to the musical fidelity X series. and LPS series with the parts upgrades best
PSVANE 12Au7 12At7 12Ax7 "-T MKII" 2020 production run of small signal/driver tubes @ decooney thanks for the info on the inspire amp, make sense. I have one other amp that can run the 150s but use the WE KT88s in it as well. have never tried the quicksilvers but supposed to be pretty nice amps. J
PSVANE 12Au7 12At7 12Ax7 "-T MKII" 2020 production run of small signal/driver tubes @tooblue yes, read your post. Think you will like the WE6SN7s in the Had amp. I have one of Dennis Had's Inspire amps that runs all octal output tubes (not sure what the HP amp uses). The Inspire amp one of my favorite sounding amps, just wish it...
PSVANE 12Au7 12At7 12Ax7 "-T MKII" 2020 production run of small signal/driver tubes @decooney I have the TJ 6SN7s, they are nice tubes. If your budget can swing it, opt for the Shuguang WE6SN7 Plus coke bottles with the red bases. They are considerably fatter (much larger glass envelope) than a typical 6sn7, so may need to measu...
DAC/Pre-Amp Upgrade, R2R or Delta Sigma? think you should consider the Denafrips line of R2R DACs. Some of the best I have heard until you get to the 5 figure price range.
PSVANE 12Au7 12At7 12Ax7 "-T MKII" 2020 production run of small signal/driver tubes Will throw in my 2 cents since I have dumped a lot of coin in TJ Full Music, PSVANE and Shuguang pre and power tubes. When TJ Full Music valve were first released, they were one of the first Chinese tube brands to really look at construction mate...
Technics or Thorens, need suggestions @ei001h,I think either table would work fine for you but think you are worried about the wrong component. Think you would be better off finding an outboard phono stage to use with either table. Nothing against the MAC, well made stuff, but many o...
What Do You Think of This Device: Parasound Zphono-USB @bob540, yes, did many parasounds fresh right out of the box, especially on their lower priced gear. Makes a notable step up in performance. Keep in mind these units are a great deal but are also under tremendous pricing pressure, so upgrading the...
is it possible to make digital audio sound like vintage vinyl @guitarsam, yes quite easy. since storage is really inexpensive these days, I would toss FLAC and move towards compression free WAV. I have a small library of 24/96 WAV files. If you contact me off line, will be happy to snail mail you a stick ful...
What Do You Think of This Device: Parasound Zphono-USB @bob540, one other thought. Over the years, I have worked on quite few of the parasound units. the zphono (and all of the Z units) as well as the HCA and Halo models. All are pretty easy to get a lot more out of simply by upgrading the parts qua...
What Do You Think of This Device: Parasound Zphono-USB storage is pretty cheap now, so why convert to flac? why not leave as wav?and if you are worried about meta data, you can add meta data to the wav files you created so your audio player will see them. best
Storing DSD/PCM files and playing through a DAC @ milpai, what ever drive type you use, make sure you make a back up copy of your files on another drive. The first time I did a digital library, it was great until the drive crashed.....without a backup,. you will have to re-rip everything....to...
Jadis Defy can't sing with super high Fidelity PART 2 @mozartfan, as long as you are going to all the effort, you want want to add the Shuguang western electric KT88 plus to your tube list. I have tried just about every 6550 and KT88 made including NOS, and the new Shuguang is now my fav 6550/KT88 tu... |
