| Has anyone ever used a company called vacuum tube values to purchase vacuum tubes? I have used them. They are a good source for either KT88 or KT77.I have a pair of V-12 monos. Am quite happy running EH KT88s in them. so while not answering your Q, gave you another option to consider. good luck | |
| Replace a 12at7 with a 12av7? the 12AV7 is lower gain than the 12AT7. Should not hurt anything if you try it, but you may want to measure the plate voltage first with the AT7 in place. Then re-measure plate voltage with the AV7. Depending on how stiff the power supply you may ... | |

| Parasound HCA-2200? years ago, owned both the 2200 Mk1 and the 2200 Mk2. Both are nice amps, but the MK2 was the John Curl designed unit with dual transformers, two power supplies etc. would agree with the others, for 300 bucks a pretty good deal. | |

| Best affordable XLR? For 100 ea, I would be looking at the Canare star quad or mogami Quad cables. you can buy in bulk and terminate yourself or buy already terminated. The Neutrik XLRs are pretty easy to work with. | |

| Capacitor Rather than replacing the entire cap, you may want to get a really good cap of a smaller value, say 0.1uf or .22uf and bypass the existing 100uf cap. Audyn is not junk, they are reasonably good caps. | |

| KT 170 Before you order a set, just be ware the KT-170 bottles are physically too big to fit in any PL amps, and many others. The amp will need to have especially wide socket spacing to allow the 170s to fit. | |
| How many vinyl albums do you own you listen to? am right behind @ebm, count wise, have just under 5K, mostly classical and 50s jazz, with about 8% rock/pop. Had to build shelving units to hold them all. | |
| Opinions on VTL preamps I used to own a 2.5. Really nice preamp. No issues what so ever. Never had the 5.5 but now own a 6.5. Both have been very reliable, no issues. The remotes work well. The 2.5s are a steal now for what they go for. |
