Cartridge burn-in
I think experienced vinyl users here have experienced two different types of cartridge break in and have noted a variance in need for break in depending on the design or model of the cartridge.  My SoundSmith MIMC star took a long time to start sh...

Early SOTA vs New Something: Conundrum
Hey man, some vacuums are really loud and frightening.  And smelly. I seriously enjoy the @lewm @mijostyn sparring.

OK @eddiechanghk!  This is going to get juicy!    Expect lots of different opinions on the superiority of the MM+SUT versus the dedicated MM/MC phono pre.  My experience with both is that it depends on the system.  When selecting a high quality ...

As a user of the Vibraplane, I'll just add that it is very easy to adjust even when its loads are not centered. My belt driven turntable is very heavy compared to the motor pod which means most of the weight is to one side of the Vibraplane. I pur...
Early SOTA vs New Something: Conundrum
The advantage of upgrading your SOTA will make it equivalent to a new table.  Getting that arm inspected and properly installed will allow whatever new cartridge you choose to shine.  I would upgrade your table and decide on a cartridge that fits ...

I recently decided between a 4 point and a 4 point 9.  I am very happy with my choice.  The VTA tower on the 4 point is well made but seldom used.  In general, VTA is set it an forget it based on the specific cartridge you are using. You can still...

@sksos Thanks for your insight.  As a Vibraplane user and someone interested in mounting two tonearms (FR-64S for Koetsu and Kuzma 4 point 9 for everything else), it sounds like not much would be gained by going for a Stabi M over a Stabi R.

Honestly, @rsf507, that is what I am trying to figure out as I use a vibraplane/symposium platform under my current table. I imagine the motor and controller are more isolated and better controlled in the Stabi M and the overall mass of the table ...

Oh, I forgot that serious music lovers need dust covers and only one tonearm.  My bad! 😁

@eddiechanghk.  The Isoacoustics platform is a great start. Get a new table/arm and see how you like it.   @mijostyn What do you think are the primary advantges of the Stabi M over the R?  Mass?
MoFi controversy
My understanding of the process, but who really knows...   Start with Master tape, record with DSD while adjusting for tape head azimuth, splice together in digital domain, ?convert to analog?, ?master in analog domain?, cut lacquer.
What should I expect moving from MM to MC?
You have a nice turntable. Do you have a preamp section in the Denon that will allow you to use an MM? If not, you may want a high output SoundSmith MI cart. Best guess is that you may hear a clearer more detailed sound with better imaging.  Not ...

I would choose the Stabi R/4 point 9 as well.  Place the table on the appropriate sized and weighted HRS platform and you will be impressed.
Koestu original Onyx Sig pre-platinum cart vs. later/current platinum Sig comparisons
I have had good success with a Rosewood Signature Platinum on a FR-64S.  The pre I use is a Pass XP-27 which I preferred to a SUT/MM input combo.  Not sure about how one dates a stone body Koetsu.  Did you have a chance to examine the stylus with ...
