Brain fade and a huge thanks to Analogmagik
I can vouch for the FR-64S cleaning service.  Richard found a missing part in my arm and replaced it.  New wiring sounds fantastic as well.
Behind the Scenes: Pressing "Blue Train" Tone Poet Vinyl at RTI
Love it.  Glad I ordered the new Tone Poet version too!
FR64 to FR66 conversion Analogmagik
I believe that Richard Mak performs all of the upgrades suggested by @dover except drilling holes the length of the arm to reduce mass.
TurnTable recommendation with dual arms - up to $20K used
Kuzma Stabi R, Fieckert Firebird/Blackbird and TechDas/Micro Seiki.  All different design priorities but accommodate two arms or more.
Need advice for a replacement phono cartridge
Another vote for repairing the cart.  Where ever it ends up you will need to wait. I had a Koetsu RSP get its cantilever removed by the same mechanism.  Peter Lederman at SoundSmith repaired it after a several month wait.  It has been working grea...
New user phono question. Comes with free story.
I think the "bit of hate" for the Sony comes from your experience swapping it out for the Rega.  Something is wrong with the cartridge, tonearm or table setup with the Sony.  But I agree with the OP that getting the Sony up to spec is a good first...
Proper set up: worth the chase
Having lived with a Pass XP-15 and now an XP-27 for years and many carts, I can say that the only cart that I’ve used that sounded better on the lower gain was a Lyra Atlas (0.6mV).  It was a little too harsh sounding on the high gain. There is so...
MoFi controversy
Not to stoke a digital vs analog debate…but I think it’s entirely reasonable to think that in many peoples stereos, especially if they have worked on improving their turntable/arm/cart/preamp front end, that a $100.00 Mofi pressed using a digital ...
MoFi controversy
A friend of mine, who cuts lacquers with a Neumann VMS 80, has explained to me in the past that it is much more difficult to get a good cut with an all analog master tape than a digital one.  Most lathes preview the a digital file which allows the...
Acoustic Signature turntables
My current table is a thread driven high mass design with a opposing magnets on the plinth and platter to reduce bearing stress. I have both AC-thread (original) and DC belt drive on the same table, the later an add on from Galibier designs.  I pr...
Pass XP27 vs. Rowland Conductor Phono
I've used two different Pass phono preamps, the XP15 and currently the XP-27.  Both are uncolored and transparent in my experience.  Not a component I would describe as veiled.  I've not directly compared to Rowland phono stages. The XP-27 is a pl...
Brand new Lyra Delos - skewed cantilever
Looks like a Delos stylus to me too.
Brand new Lyra Delos - skewed cantilever
Great thread!   @anthos314 I have used three different Lyra's over the past several years. I started with a Delos, then an Atlas and now an Etna SL.  Haven't had the chance to listen to a lambda version in my system.  They all share a "house" sou...
Cartridge Force - Is a Little 'Over-Force' Okay?
It is hard to recommend using too much VTF on any cartridge. Do you have an accurate tracking force gauge? Too much VTF may rob you of some of the finesse of the cartridge, high frequency extension and "air". That being said, Sumiko lists this MM ...
Dr. Feickert Blackbird
Interesting story @edgyhassle.  I think that is very similar to my friend who inherited the Marantz gear when his father passed away. No way would he get rid of those pieces as they have meaning for him.  He often says that he cant believe how the...
