Hearing Aids I've worn hearing aids for over 20 years, and had gotten used to spending $8K every 4 years or so for a new set. Last year I heard about the Costco hearing aid department, so I checked it out and got a pair of Jabra hearing aids for $1500; these a...
physiology and psychology of hearing @mihorn - so you're saying it's physically impossible for a woman to be an 'audiophile'? I wouldn't think they were mutually exclusive, but that's just me.
Dumb question......why do you need a preamp? Some people prefer separates, some people prefer integrated. No hard and fast rule.
New UHQR recordings VS the 8 produced in the early 80's. Are the new releases as good? If you've never heard these 45 rpm vinyl recordings, try to find one at a good price and give yourself a treat. I've got about 6 of them, most recently a couple of Genesis ones (they're not UHQR but are double 45's) and also the Aja UHQR one. That...
Did you ever hear of Karl Jenkins? I know him from Soft Machine....
HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH TO SPEND ON A SYSTEM? IF YOU GET THE SOUND DOES IT MATTER? Who is to decide what is 'too much' for somebody else?
Karen Carpeneter died 42 years ago. chrisoshea - you're the one who is on a thread called "Karen Carpenter died 42 years ago". Odd place to be if you want to whine about having a fixation on Karen Carpenter. Do you normally spend time on forum threads in which you have no interest?
Record Store Day 2025 List @tablejockey - 'We Built This City' was not the Airplane of ANY period. That was Jefferson Starship; Jefferson Airplane was a San Francisco band. No Jack and Jorma, no Airplane. 'We Built This City' is about LA. And you are right, it is horribl...
Karen Carpeneter died 42 years ago. Sonic Youth were big fans of Karen Carpenter; they even wrote a couple of songs for/about her....
Movie/film suggestions. Yes, 'Madness' is appropriate indeed. I'm a huge David Lynch fan - he and Stanley Kubrick were always my 2 favorite film-makers; the painter and the still photographer - when he announced a few weeks ago that he'd had emphysema for 4 years and ne...
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore? @disc - one of the best FM rock stations ever was WHFS in Bethesda (I'm from Silver Spring), which I think is still going; don't know if it's still independent or not.
Turntable Mats for Technics Grand Class, "G" Series I've got a 1200G and I use a Stein Music 'The Perfect Interface' Pi mat. It's the only mat I've ever used on it, and it sounds excellent. Might have sounded just as excellent with something less expensive, but I'm happy.
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore? I've not listened to the 'radio' since the early 90's.
Things we cannot be bothered by anymore @2psyop + 1, except I read newspapers and don't build furniture!
Anyone Know the Band Playing on T-Mobile Commercial? Wish I'd heard the commercial a few years ago, I could have helped - I know that song really well, they used to play it all the time back then on our 'alternative' station in San Francisco... |
