preamp out instead of MC transformer
Almarg,The idea of running it out of the preamp out to the mm preamp and back into the preamp in of the same preamp is to use the MM preamp like an outboard processor, much like people used to do with equalizers and such in the past. I didnt meann...
Oracle Alexandria + Premier MMT = ?????
Alexandria for sale on this site?
which turntable to buy for $1500 best value ?
Glad we could help with your decision. As you have found out, there are lots of opinions and experiences with turntables. One of my favorites is the Oracle Alexandria II, which for conventional looking tables just gets the look right and sounds as...
No sound coming from spekaers - turntable?
Do you have a mute button or tape monitor button. If so, push it.
Best, or ideal record clamp
the Sota clamp works very well, and doesnt add a lot of weight to the bearing or affect the suspension on suspended tables. I like to use the outer ring on my Transrotor Fat Bob, but not on my suspended tables.
Upgrade Suggestions
Definitely the cartridge. The Dyna 20xl is a low spot in the Dyna lineup in my opinion. Even the 17d3 is much better.
When Bi-amping is there change in sensitivity
Get it now.
Do you know how to?
take a single edge razor blade and wedge it between the plastic and the metal connector. Work it back and forth, then twist to pop it off. A thin knife edge will work too.
Looking for a great value integrated
I have had very good results from a Dussun V6i, 150 watt integrated that was sold by Mark Levinson under the Red Rose name for over $6000. Under the Dussun name you could pick one up used for less than $1000. they also make a V8i which is 250watt.
When Bi-amping is there change in sensitivity
Almarg,"Keep in mind that power equals voltage times current (or less, if the load is not purely resistive). The crossover circuit that is in the mid/hi section of the speaker prevents low frequency currents from being supplied by the mid/hi amp a...
Turntable dilemma.
Both the VPI and Oracle are good tables. Of the two, the VPI with TNT platter is probably the better, price being equal. I have owned both, and while I prefer my Oracle Delphi V to any VPI, it is much more expensive. You might also look for a SOTA...

When Bi-amping is there change in sensitivity
In a passive bi-amp situation, where a preamp is feeding two power amps and the signal from those power amps are feeding a bi-ampable speaker where the connection between the bass and midrange/treble is removed, where does the excess signal go? Th...
Need help on an all rounder speaker under $5000
Second the PSB Synchrony One recommendation. It is more open than the Stratus Gold, my previous favority. Sounds somewhat similar to a B&W 802 but much cheaper.
the perfect tonearm
In the under $2000 class, there is only one non linear tonearm that equals the higher priced models and that is the Audiomods IV. It has all the features you are looking for and is built to a very exacting level. I have directly compared it to an ...
