Pioneer PD-S95 cd transport
Mrrross, I think you might better off with the 6005. A descent player in its own right and can be use as a transport later if you wish to use a DAC. As a new item you should get several years use from it either way. With players it is usually the ...
Replacement amp for B&K ST-2140
I see from the Sonata thread that your amp is fine. Happy Thanksgiving! If you were to move beyond you B&K separates I would be inclined to buy an Integrated at your budget. Many good ones available.
Simple question, best sounding inexpensive DAC.
+1 George. If not in need of a USB DAC and my budget went beyond that of a used MF V-DAC, I would consider the non-USB Bitfrost. Or a older used DAC as there are many very good one that can now be had at inexpensive cost.
Replacement amp for B&K ST-2140
What is your budget and are you willing to purchase used? Your preamp is getting along in years, are you considering an future upgrade there?
Simple question, best sounding inexpensive DAC.
Not sure what your idea of inexpensive is, but a truly inexpensive option would be a Music Fidelity V-DAC (original Black case version). The USB input is not asynchronous, however the coax input would serve you provided your Denon has coax output....
Looking for a USB Headphone amplifier
Courant, thanks for your reply. I am familiar with, and had considered, the sprout. However want a stand alone amp. ZD, great idea, thanks! I should have thought of CC myself. I will give them a call.
Looking for a USB Headphone amplifier
OK, after much consideration I have decided to look for a used stand alone headphone amp and use a separate DAC. My thinking is that I will get more AMP for my $$$ and greater flexibility with this approach. My budget tops out ~ $600 for the amp (...
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
Thanks Calvin. Been following this thread and finally felt the need to respond. I think threads like this are worthy, allowing thoughtful exchange, humor and camaraderie. Just plain fun!
I Tunes to my System
+1 Ghosthouse. I would think that with your system, using a DAC between your computer and your Pre would serve well. Jl35 makes a good point in that the $$$ spent on hardware need not exceed that of the driving software and file type.
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
I hold the believe that spending 20%-25% of ones audio budget on cables is justifiable. I have a system that retailed at ~$15K however spent ~$8k on it. I have ~$2k spent on cables. I do not believe i have expensive cables. My friends who own much...
Looking for a USB Headphone amplifier
Buconero, I checked out the amp on monoprice. For that price it might be fun to own one. What is the tube compliment? Was not listed in monoprice. Have you driven speakers with this amp, or just headphones? As for the functions I am looking for in...
Revel F208 vs. Paradigm 75F: Auditioning
Take your Jolida to this dealer and try it out with the speaker(s) of your choice in a listening room close in size to yours.
Be honest please
I know Al has furthered my education to a greater extent that any rock star.
Do I need a pre-amp?
The NAD PP2e loads similar to the Cambridge 551P however has somewhat less gain at 35dB. The gain differential represents no problem for the Ortofon 2M Red. I can’t speak to the sonic differences between these NAD and Cambridge phonostages.
Do I need a pre-amp?
OK, I thought I would put myself in your shoes and shop Needledoctor. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC turntable sells for $399 with Ortofon 2M red cartridge. The 2M Red cartridge has a recommended loads of 47K resistance and 150-300 pF capacitance. V...
