Recommended amp for Thiel 3.6 -- newbie
I am of the opinion that, in less one has a dedicated room for establishment of a home theater, and one is primarily interested in a music system that in addition is meant to augment video, then a 2 channel system is best. Might include a subwoofe...
Outrageous used pricing on older McIntosh
There are some products from the 60’s that sell for more than their original asking price; Dynaco ST-70 and PAS-3 Pre, Marantz 8 and 9, Mac tube amps, AR 3a speakers, as some examples. I have a ST-70 and will spend more than it’s original retail p...
50 hours of research = 1 amp for Totem Sttaf
mrmittens, I can’t advise on purchase between the PrimaLuna and Rogue. However, my dealer friend wants to sell his Cronus Magnum. It is the original model, ~5 years old, KT88 power tubes. With a different cover it can take the KT120 tubes. The cov...
I read this on another site
For a short time, just to see how the NAD would drive my Esoteric MG10s, I replaced my Jolida Fusion/BEL 1001MK5 pre/amp combo with the NAD 526 BEE ($550 retail) and was impressed with how it performed.Room is ~15x12.

I should ad that a friend of mine, once a dealer for Rogue owns the Cronus Magnum. As lowrider says, a great sounding amp. Also, Rogue is a good company to deal with.
Recommend a passive preamp route
Why not try a Schiit Audio SYS? They run ~$50. Use a low pF short cable between it and amp. two inputs, single output.
Cambridge Audio Azur DacMagic vs Micromega MyDac? Anyone familiar with both?
I think the USB implementation in the DacMagic is the weak link. You might try a used USB/SPDIF converter in between your computer and DAC. The MyDAC has advanced USB implementation. My thinking is that your system is worthy of a better digital fr...

I agree with tls49. You need an integrated amp  or pre/amp separates with the current capabilities to drive the 3.6s and a pass through for the addition of HT processing. The advice from Jafant and George regarding current needs should be headed.

Have you listened to amy of the listed amps that are within your budget? If indeed the Rogue is in 1st and the Prima 2nd, that makes the SS listings vying for 3rd. Jolida tube integrated amps, are also within budget.  Start auditions with the tube...
Thank you to the Audiogon Team
Great post Rushton! I also am very thankful for the services provided by the AG team. I always have received quick response concerning questions I have had. I truly benefitted, enjoyed, buying and selling on the AG marketplace, a relatively safe e...
Amp for stereo subs
Bgpowell asked about the integrated crossover in the crown. Swamp or Rlwainwright, does this amp have this function and if so have either of you used/tested this option? I am considering building a couple passive subs. Thanks.
Supporting Amp/Preamp for Klipsch KLF 20's ?

I have Rotel amp RB 1582/looking for compatable pre amp to power Paradigm studio 100
The Marantz is quite old and could very likely be the source of the problem.  Yes you might try a newer Rotel pre. Buying used allows you an opportunity to try without great expense should you decide to sell.

Yes, nice post!  Are you using the Emotiva DAC with the Marantz as a transport?

If your Marantz has a Tape/record out (fixed output) it could be used to send signal to a line level input on a pre.Not sure what is meant by a “pop” from the tweeters, or what is causing this. The cause needs  to be identified prior to a fix. Wha...
