Why is modern pop music today so terrible? I'm not an old fart lol, but I agree with that statement as far as the music itself and not the actual recording process. It's cheap and the easy way " 2 takes and we will fix it in post" most the time the music itself in prefabricated and auto tu...

A vote for the little guy suppliers That is exactly how I feel about the Mc cutomer support, same with dealing with Jolida, I know there brand is lower end, but that’s what I started with. Without the support I received from them even with second hand gear, I prob wouldnt be the tub...
Eggleston Works Andra II speakers as forever speakers. Im not sure about the Egglestons, but I’ve had my Yamaha NS-1000s and NS-2000s for quite a long time. Refinished the NS1000s twice since I’ve had them, the last time a complete reveneer and crossover rebuild roughly 6 or 7 months ago. I still love...
Help Me Choose (new) Bookshelf Speakers, and Integrated Amplifier for $1300 and under! Could always go with a vintage Marantz or pioneer sx series. It would give it that true vintage feel with nice chrome and the Marantz blue would be nice, and get a decent phono stage as well. 100-125 watts is all those elacs really need.
Help Me Choose (new) Bookshelf Speakers, and Integrated Amplifier for $1300 and under! The elacs are quite good for the money. I was very impressed I setup a atmos theater used for 2 channel audio as well for a friend with the Marantz SR7010 for the pre a mcintosh 7108 amp with elac ub5s and a dual velodyne 12" powered subs. They so...
Top integrated with MC phono section +1 on the Rogue Audio Pharaoh, it's a great piece of gear as well as the Parasound Halo, the phono section is really good, not to mention upgradable and it's like a Swiss army knife for audio. Built in crossovers, dual mono subs, the digital end i...
Need advice for B&W 804 diamond amplification Let me first start off by saying these speakers are fantastic, I have heard great setups with the 804s. I will say in my experience I have not had great experiences with B&Ws and tubes, as a tube guy it was kind of disheartening. the best I ha...
Receiver as pre-amp for outboard amplification? +1 on what EHart has said, I have been down this road as well, I used a Marantz 2245 as a pass through pre when i first got into hifi, I realized very quickly that a dedicated preamp makes a world of difference. There are several options depending...
Amplification question - PrimaLuna Tubes vs. McIntosh Solid State This post has had me spending some time with my mc7300 and mc302 and a mono setup of the Usher 1.5 that I haven't used in quite a while, I have been back and forth with several different pairings into both my ns1000s and ns2000s and even a pair of...
Which dac or other suggestions I have been through a ton of DACs to find some kind of improvement in my streaming audio, I didn't notice a huge improvement with any of them really. I stream via tidal or my own flac files. If you are thinking you just have to try it, I recommend...
Amplification question - PrimaLuna Tubes vs. McIntosh Solid State To be fare, McIntosh is a statement, but not to many people not into to hifi audio. ( Mindfull I own several McIntosh pieces) now tubes on the other hand, they are beautiful and sound is great, but find lacking in some of the highs depending on th...
