CD Players that transmit 24bit/96kHz
If what you say is true, it may not be wise to get a separate 24/96 dac at this point, given the small inventory of 24/96 DADs and that the DVD-A discs won't be playable on anything other than a DVD-A player, which won't send out a 24/96 digital s...

The Radio Shack clamps are pretty cheap, as I recall. In the NYC area we have a lot of RFI problems, although I really haven't had too many. I use shielded cables, mostly, and haven't noticed too much difference with the clamps on them. However, m...
CD Players that transmit 24bit/96kHz
Kevin: Thanks for responding, although I'm still a little confused on one point. Do the DVD-A discs being released now, if they"re compatible with DVD-V (and will they say so on their label or packaging?), play with 24/96 resolution through both t...
SACD - Another year and ...
That's why I had Mr. Ozment replace the Sony analog stage and power supply with the Audio Logic tubed analog stage and power supply on my SCD777ES. The Sony doesn't sound bad, but it doesn't take full advantage of the resolving power of the medium...
Is Museatex/Meitner in business?
See my description and other peoples' comments under the current thread "Opinions on Meitner MTR101 amps". They are still in business, although they've moved west. Their digital stuff is among the best for the money, and the amps are a bargain, bu...
Opinions on Meitner MTR-101 Amps???
Audionut: On your last point, while they are a synergistic match, the amps do work well with other equipment; my JP80MC sounds better than the PA-6i with them, for example, although you're talking ridiculous money there. The Rogue is a fine piece;...
CD Players that transmit 24bit/96kHz
Dsweeney: Yes, and there aren't many. A regular CD will only play a 16 bit/44khz signal, whether you play it on a dvd player, a CD player or a 24/96 DAC. Chesky and Classic have most of the few available titles of 24/96 discs, and they do provide ...
Opinions on Meitner MTR-101 Amps???
Joel: I also have a PA 6 that I use as a spare when my Jadis preamp is acting up, and ultimately will move to my second system. Is the upgrade on that one worth it? I already have the current MC phono module, which I thought was a big improvement ...
Opinions on Meitner MTR-101 Amps???
I use them as bass amps (200hz on down) in a 4-piece system, but have also run them full range. Mine were revised just before I got them about 3 years ago, but I have heard a friend's original 101s in my system. I don't know the cost, but the revi...
Your Listening chair
I sit in a low-backed old turn of the century chair, because it's a Victorian living room. I had used a more comfortable, higher backed chair, but that screwed up the sound, as others are noting. This is a quandry, particularly if the music relaxe...

I think you can also get RFI stoppers at Radio Shack, called ferrite clamps. Cheap and effective for RFI rich environments, such as the NYC area.
CD Players that transmit 24bit/96kHz
See the thread Upsampling and Stereophile from the other week. There are some Pioneer and Marantz models that will transmit a 24/96 signal, and there is also a website referenced there. In addition, a while back (couple of years ago) Classic Recor...
Places to buy SACDs
I hope someone can suggest a good source; Music Direct was the only one I've found with a good selection and discounts of any kind. Tower Records here in NYC had some, but no bargains and the selection was pretty much Sony/Columbia.
Places to buy SACDs
There's another thread on this topic as well--look for it. Also, try Music Direct in Chicago. I think their e-address is amusicdirect.com. They do offer a slight discount over Acoustic Sounds.
Upsampling and Stereophile
Joe: Take a look under the thread SACD Demo. I had the 777ES modified, not the SCD 1-- it came down in price to $1600 and I didn't want to spend too much for an analog stage I was going to bypass and a medium I hope survives but hasn't been market...
