Why do tube amps often subjectively sound more powerful than SS ?
How does anyone hear "power" from an amp or anything else? Volume, sure. power, not in the least.
Speaker or amplifer
If you already like your speakers, then get the amp. Speakers always make a bigger difference than an amp.
Question about Break in of Weiss DAC 204
Break in of audio components is a myth. Full stop.
Enough of the Stereophile futuristic statements about the Focal Diva Utopia
Noted.
AC Power
Your nephew knows of what he speaks and until there is objective proof, save your money.
If Bi-Wiring is an option, should I choose Bi-wiring over single banana with free jumpers
You won't notice any objective difference with bi-wiring or replacing the jumpers. Why would a long time, reputable company supply "junk" with their products? That seriously fails the common sense test.
Has it all been worth it?
There's a serious issue with FOMO in this hobby and way too many people chase the unobtainable. I guess if they've got the money and it makes them happy (the buying new stuff, obviously not how it sounds), gofer it.
Is there any such thing as a bad sounding DAC these days?
After reading some of these opinions, it's obvious that you just need to spend more and more to get the best sound.
Does USB cable length make a diference?
Not in the least.
The Audio Science Review (ASR) approach to reviewing wines.
Why are so many "audiophiles" so obsessed with that site? Measurements make a difference but shouldn't be the only thing one uses to determine what to buy.  I'd rather go by measurements than all the subjectivity that many (most) so-called audiop...
Who's winning?
If all you've heard is the soundbar and it works for you, that's winning. How could any speakers, regardless of price, be winning if the listener isn't happy with them? But, chances are they won't be happy with anything as long as there is somethi...
Has anyone tried these SnugPlugs?
I would want to know how they change the sound before I decided on using them.
Are EL34 based amps more musical than KT series based ? Or it's purely a matter of design?
Design.
DAC break-in question
It seems to me that if you just let the music flow into the DAC, it could build up and when you eventually turn on the amp, the sudden surge of music to the speakers could overheat something or possibly even blow out the speakers (that makes as mu...
Dumb question......why do you need a preamp?
Some say a separate preamp offers more choices. Some say it introduces more possibility of unwanted noise because of the extra component and cables to connect them. Some say it's mostly a way for dealers to make more money. I fall into the latter ...
