Bookshelf speakers for near-field (desktop) use I believe you can buy kef r3 at best buy magnolia which has 14 day return policy. They also sell kef ls50/lsx/ls50w so u can certainly compare them directly at home if you wanted.
Buchardt s400 There's already a thread on this:https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/bookshelf-speakers-for-near-field-desktop-useBut basically, speakers with big waveguides are extremely diffuse sounding nearfield and don't generally sound that great, because...
Bookshelf speakers for near-field (desktop) use Zeos has a review on youtube of the Buchardt S400. According to him they aren’t really appropriate for nearfield, too diffuse sounding and preferred coaxial Kef R3.Which reminds me of my experiment with using Revel M126BE and Revel Gem2s nearfield...
Best multi-purpose subwoofer @noble100 Wouldn’t it be easier to just get 2 subs and run room correction than go 4 subs?Saying an infinite number of subs would eliminate room modes is like saying having an infinite line source would eliminate the problem of a limited sweet spo...
Best multi-purpose subwoofer I generally prefer sealed subs for music, SVS or Rythmik. One thing nice about SVS subs is you don’t have to worry about ground loop or ac mains hum (if you have those problems), their low pass filter will actually remove that noise.
Thoughts about the Magico A3, Revel Salon2/ Studio2 @mzkmxcv Rubinson's high frequency hearing must be pretty limited at this point. I don't see how anyone could think the Salon 2 or F228BE are indistinguishable. The F228BE is a more forward speaker and clearly has more energy above 7k in the off...
Eggleston Works speakers: Expensive, but are they worth the money?? I recall for the longest time they were using Esotar1 tweeters because Dynaudio was not selling Esotar2s.
Thoughts about the Magico A3, Revel Salon2/ Studio2 @prof Did you look at the anechoic measurements that you yourself linked? lol
Thoughts about the Magico A3, Revel Salon2/ Studio2 Harman’s own research says 35% of a speaker’s weighted preference comes from bass extension. Both the Salon 2 and F228Be have more bass extension than the A3, so that alone should account for a significant amount of the preference. In fact since t...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... These are measurements taken at the anechoic chamber at the Harman research center that I believe floyd toole uses for his research/books.
Tekton Impact Monitors vs Buchardt S300Mk2 and/or S400 Here's the stereophile vertical response measurement of the Impact Monitor:https://www.stereophile.com/images/718TekIMfig5.jpg Tekton's are way more height sensitive than a normal monitor speaker due to the lobing effect of so many tweeters. You r...
Used Market Savings vs. The Dealer Experience depending on the dealer, it's not always a pleasant experience...
Auditioned Magico A3 - VERY DARK... If you think A3s are too dark, you probably are not as sensitive to high frequencies. They aren’t actually a dark speaker, as you can see from the anechoic ANSI/CEA 2034 measurements of the Magico A3, the listening window includes measurements fro...
2 way vs 3 way question Or they cheaper out on voice coils and decided it was cheaper to use a normal 7" than an over built 5" mid
2 way vs 3 way question I’d argue a 3-way can’t image as well as a 2-way in most listening locations. Dennis Murphy says ideally your listening location would be around 15+ feet away from a 3-way for it to image as well as a 2-way. So unless you are talking about a conce... |
