Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls? not biased at all its called an opinion and joseph uses conventional drivers in our opinion there are other better driver technology @audiotroy You’re a dealer for other brands hocking your equipment here and you’re not biased? Are you even fo...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls? have heard them at shows a good speaker but quite frankly don’t hold them in the same regard as Soix . they use good drivers but theses drivers are not as transparent as a top Amt or ribbon driver available today. There are a ton of loudspe...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls? Not that it’s not possible, but I’ve never heard of anyone upgrading from Pearls. Ever. You’ll notice they hardly ever come up for sale, for a reason. Frankly I’m surprised at the question. Do you own them and are looking to upgrade? I suppos...
AQ Dragonfly This works. I use the lightning version with my iPhone and Dragonfly Red and works fine. They also offer one that allows you to charge your phone while it’s playing but it’s a little bigger. https://www.amazon.com/Apple-USB-C-to-USB-Adapter/dp/...
How old is too old? I suppose if it’s not very expensive you won’t be out much if it craps out on you, and I guess you could get lucky and get years out of it. But I would definitely not buy an expensive player that’s 10+ years old. That’s just stupid IMHO.
Vandersteen Quatro Wood CT I’d go for the Quatros — whole other level of bass. I’m not an expert, but I’ve never heard of anyone needing a volt meter to set them up, and it would surprise me if that was the case.
Any experience with Ansuz Digitalz d-TC Supreme? I don’t think you’re going to find too many people here with experience with that cable, but I could be wrong. Have you seen any reviews? Are you open to other suggestions? If so, what’s your budget and are you looking new or used. Where are y...
What amp/preamp are you using with your Vandersteen Treo CTs? @hifiman5 That sounds sweet! Love the tube/ss combo. Nice pre. How’s the Rhumba sound? I have an SMcAudio amp as well. I know in the past Vandy frequently teamed up with McCormack at shows so there’s obvious synergy there.
A Low Cost Pleasant Sounding Used CD Player? Sorry, I didn’t mean to be accusatory at all but was just confused but you cleared it up. My bad for not understanding. I wish you the best of luck in finding a good transport.
A Low Cost Pleasant Sounding Used CD Player? I’m confused. You ask for a CD player but then say you’ll be using a DAC. Which is it? With a DAC I’d be looking at the Shanling ET3 that gets good reviews, but I’d look into reliability because I think I’ve seen it has had some problems. Whiche...
Leave it on? @mulveling Yeah I tend to agree. My preamp is from Linear Tube Audio and it’s hard to think they’d engineer something that’s capable of blowing my speakers no matter how it’s used, but still I’m gonna check just to make sure. Peace of mind, bet...
A Low Cost Pleasant Sounding Used CD Player? Do you have a DAC?
A Low Cost Pleasant Sounding Used CD Player? You know, saying low cost really doesn’t mean anything. You should state your specific budget. That said, given what you’re looking for I’d look right to Marantz. Personally I wouldn’t wanna buy a used CD player because you have no idea how many...
Leave it on? @larryi Thanks! Very helpful and just the info I was looking for. I’ll contact my preamp manufacturer and ask them.
Leave it on? Here’s a question — I relatively recently required a tube preamp. I like to keep my amp and all components on and could leave the rube pre on too because the tubes last a long time and are cheap. The question is if I leave my amp and source compo... |
