Denon HEOS LINK or Wiim Music Streamers?
You have a nice system and are doing it a disservice by not having a good DAC.  Using the DAC in a cheap steamer is a mismatch and a performance bottleneck relative to the rest of your system IMHO.  DACs are important, and there are tons of excell...
Maximize Mini with Roon to match my system -- or new component?
Ditch the Mini ASAP — huge bottleneck to your otherwise nice sytem.  Unless you’re planning on keeping it for a long time, throwing more $$$ at the Mini is a waste IMHO and would make much more sense to put those funds toward a dedicated streamer....
"Wireless" Speakers for Living Room and Kitchen set up.
Another vote for Sonos.  He doesn’t sound like an audiophile and so Sonos should be fine from a sound perspective.  Ease of use and reliability are probably most important and again Sonos shines there.  Writing’s on the wall IMHO.  Best of luck.
Do I still need a DDC in between?
Good question.  Probably comes down to which clock is better and not sure if Volumio offers galvanic isolation, which is important (assume the U18 does?).  At the very least you’ll likely get a better quality streamer either way, so given the unkn...
I2S Recommendation
Congrats on your nice new DAC.  I use this and it sounds so good I haven’t bothered to upgrade yet.  At about 7 bucks it’s a way for you to assess i2S vs. SPDIF without risking a lot of $ (my cable is 6” long but now only available from 1 foot on ...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls?
@mdalton   You were specifically addressing my interaction with audiotroy and the nature of his comment, not the thread in general and in that context my opinion of the Pearls is not the main point.  Now you randomly switch it back to the original...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls?
@mdalton  No that’s not the question at all except in your mind.  As usual you’re off base and on another planet.  You and I don’t agree on anything, and I’m not going to waste my time going round and round with you. Been there done to that.  Not ...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls?
audiotroy was not critical of Joseph audio   @mdalton  Um, yes he was.  Go back and read his first post.  And that’s ok, he’s entitled to his opinion, but he also implied my opinion of JA is overinflated and that I was wrong because his speaker...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls?
not biased at all its called an opinion and joseph uses conventional drivers in our opinion there are other better driver technology @audiotroy You’re a dealer for other brands hocking your equipment here and you’re not biased?  Are you even fo...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls?
have heard them at shows a good speaker but quite frankly don’t hold them in the same regard as Soix .  they use good  drivers but theses drivers are not as transparent as a top Amt or ribbon driver available  today.   There are a ton of loudspe...
Upgrade from Joseph Audio Pearls?
Not that it’s not possible, but I’ve never heard of anyone upgrading from Pearls.  Ever.  You’ll notice they hardly ever come up for sale, for a reason.  Frankly I’m surprised at the question.  Do you own them and are looking to upgrade?  I suppos...
AQ Dragonfly
This works.  I use the lightning version with my iPhone and Dragonfly Red and works fine.  They also offer one that allows you to charge your phone while it’s playing but it’s a little bigger. https://www.amazon.com/Apple-USB-C-to-USB-Adapter/dp/...
How old is too old?
I suppose if it’s not very expensive you won’t be out much if it craps out on you, and I guess you could get lucky and get years out of it.  But I would definitely not buy an expensive player that’s 10+ years old.  That’s just stupid IMHO.
Vandersteen Quatro Wood CT
I’d go for the Quatros — whole other level of bass.  I’m not an expert, but I’ve never heard of anyone needing a volt meter to set them up, and it would surprise me if that was the case.
Any experience with Ansuz Digitalz d-TC Supreme?
I don’t think you’re going to find too many people here with experience with that cable, but I could be wrong.  Have you seen any reviews?  Are you open to other suggestions?  If so, what’s your budget and are you looking new or used.  Where are y...
