Do Audio Hobbyists Commonly Fail to Fully Utilize Their Systems?
@vthokie83 If you are building from scratch, you might want to specify good room dimensions. The research has been done, by the famous acoustician Cox. He found that about 2% or so of rooms are good, about a quarter are OK, and most were bad (publ...
BEST SPEAKER THAT COMES TO LIFE AT LOW LISTENING LEVELS
Since you have tried ML ESL hybrids, and liked them, why not audition a full range ESL, especially Quad 2912 and Sound Labs? I’m a Quad man, (ex ML - got tired of hybrids, YMMV) and I listen at such low volumes that my friends complain about it. S...
GROUNDING - assistance on how NOT to shock yourself
I have a strip of tin-coated copper bus-bar screwed to the wall beside my turntable.  It is connected to a 50K resistor, connected to ground (in this case, a copper cold-water pipe nearby). The bus-bar doesn't make it more effective, but it's def...

Sounds like more analysis than listening here. I think that's the big trap. With me it's more building than listening, which is probably worse.
… "And the government shall be upon his shoulders"
According to an historian of British monarchy, Handel's music was intended as an instrument of royal power, not unlike the Church of England and the aristocracy. An analogue of the NFL in another place and time.
Bogus Ratings for MOFI SACD's
That's very disappointing.

HOW DID YOU END UP WITH YOUR DREAM SYSTEM?
It's hard to credit that a few resistosr can make such a difference - but it does.
HOW DID YOU END UP WITH YOUR DREAM SYSTEM?
Well, best components that money can buy. For example, I put a dozen of the best reviewed resistors in a selector switch, and put it in place of the gain resistor. Then chose the best - it was nude Vishay, VAR series, hands down. So every resistor...
HOW DID YOU END UP WITH YOUR DREAM SYSTEM?
Incremental steps. Appreciating each piece, upgrading it, seeing the design limitations, and making my own air bearing turntable, tonearm, phono/pre, main amplifiers. I am now making my own ESL's, buying everything off-the-shelf that I can. I tho...
What % Of Your System Are Your Cables?
Something less than 1%. And that's with all the electronics DIY (excluding 3 Bryston bass auxiliaries) in an all-vinyl, ESL system.
Wrapping power cords and interconnects with copper foil.
Aluminum foil is hard to terminate, copper is easy. Also, not all shields are created equal - it depends on the mass density, and more is better. Canare Starquad is excellent, Mogami is good too, and easier to terminate. I only use the best Canare...
a resonance in my left ear
Get to a physician ASAP. If you have an inflammation of the 8th nerve, you have 72 hours to treat it with steroids. That was my problem last year, and treatment was confirmed by an ENT man.
Looking for more advice on purchasing a new turntable.
There are different technologies for turntables: idler wheel drive, belt drive, and direct drive. They sound different. I like belt drive - I gave away my last DD. I now have two turntables, a DIY air bearing turntable / tonearm combination (whic...
