a resonance in my left ear
Get to a physician ASAP. If you have an inflammation of the 8th nerve, you have 72 hours to treat it with steroids. That was my problem last year, and treatment was confirmed by an ENT man.
Looking for more advice on purchasing a new turntable.
There are different technologies for turntables: idler wheel drive, belt drive, and direct drive. They sound different. I like belt drive - I gave away my last DD. I now have two turntables, a DIY air bearing turntable / tonearm combination (whic...
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album
Sorry, @phillyspecial, a typo. Laudate on the Proprius label (brown cover) is wonderful but relatively obscure sacred music with wonderful accompaniment for organ. The Christmas music is Cantate Domino, also on Proprius. The soprano, Mellnas, ha...
Canare 4S11G OFC Speaker Cables, An Incredible Audio Bargain
Now try Canare L-4E6S microphone cables for interconnect. I use Eichmann or WBT RCA’s or Neutrik XLR, but L-4E6S is a bear to terminate. Works for me - in a higher end system. YMMV.
Does anyone on AG truly care anymore about objectivity & sincerity of Magazine reviews?
@moonwatcher "this isn't the forum for it" So why bring it up? Leave your politics at home. This is an audio forum.

@moonwatcher Interesting jump from journalists to scientists. Stopped reading there. By the way, the term "climate change" was coined by George Bush the second. How 'bout it - you believe in Bush-called "climate change" now?
Audiophile Surge Suppressor (and nothing else)
@whart   Quite right. I have two bare isolation transformers for most gear, and the main audio power supply also has it's own. The electrical inspector who came to inspect it remarked that it was the cleanest power he'd seen since working in a hyd...
Audiophile Surge Suppressor (and nothing else)
I second Trpplite. I've used their surge suppressors for years, after a whole-house unit at the breaker box. Make sure to follow through on your excellent idea of metal boxes, because T sells both metal and plastic. ALL electronics in my house ar...
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition
I don’t think that being accurate is "trying way too hard." But YMMV. I guess things have changed a lot in 10 years - because 10 years ago it seems there were lots of misc US machines running at less than 40KHz. I’m not in a position to measur...
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition
If I remember correctly, Neil suggested that I use a final rinse consisting of a distilled water spritz (my regime included a distilled water bath). Has he changed his mind? Or are my marbles disappearing? For context, mine was a special case, in...
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition
@jeffreylee   "What did I say that's misleading?" You said, "There’s no difference between the way US machines operate. Transducers create bubbles, the bubbles clean. That’s it." That is so silly that you contradicted it in the next sentence. Th...
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition
Just in case anyone reads jeffrey's post of  07:14, it's misleading. Suggest you read Neil's bible. Reference above.
Anyone notice different amounts of surface noise with different arms?
@mijostyn   Not half as good as, "Digitally perfect sound." Guess that's why all CD players sound alike.
Anyone notice different amounts of surface noise with different arms?
Tonearms make a difference. Even different tonearm wands on the same air bearing sound different, with the same cartridge, set up over days. Since my tonearm has repeatable measurements (error bars 20 seconds of arc, 50 microns linear) and setting...
Sound insulation advice for home theater room in middle of the house?
I've done two rooms in my own house. In the home theatre, I built a wall on each side of 2x4 frames and filled the interstices with playground sand. Same for the ceiling. It was highly successful. For the purpose built music room I used Quietrock...
